Mae Sotâs best âbreakfastâ got throws maâam bread onto an oven wall which then goes straight onto your plate. Beef it up with some Daal or other sides and you will have a memorable hit. Not your western bacon and eggs but well worth the stop. They usually sell out by 9.Donât miss it if you are in Mae Sot!

We would not go back to this restaurant as the service and food was very poor. The staff have no interest in the customers and are just watching the clock, the food lacks both taste and quality. When we made a comment to the waitress about the Thai food the comment we got was that she would talk to the cook. We paid our bill and left, on our way out my wife commented no wonder they have so few customers!!

The menu varies according to what's in the kitchen, and there should be items to please most anyone. I asked for vegetarian and got three small servings of mixed vegetables, chana (chickpeas), and dal--all tasty--plus a fluffy nan made in the oven in front.
Really pleased we found this place. It's not easy to find but worth looking for.We had a beef curry, naan bread (10Baht!!) & vegetable samosas washed down with a sweet iced coffee. The place is heaving busy in the morning and packed with locals & a handful of travellers. They have a proper tandor oven which churns out outrageously good naan bread.Think it closes around midday, so you need to get there in the morning. Two of us ate for around 120 Baht

I went here after a disastrous meal in Famous Ray (the most watery curry with the driest chicken ever) and it's a vast difference. The curry I had was really authentic and one of the best in Thailand. It's the northern curry which is more brown than green or red. The eggplant somtam didn't disappoint too. Staff and owner are warm. Thank goodness I didn't finish the food at Famous Ray (didn't want to waste my precious tummy space for crappy food) and ended up happy and full here. Strongly recommend.

Stopped in at Dave's on my last trip to Mae Sot. Newly diminished in size but the quality of the food, the amount and the thickness of the menu hasn't changed. Don't let the fat menu or Dave's somewhat inherent grumpiness put you off, the food is great and his wife is darling. Thanks for the review. The newly deminished size is the closing of the bar side of the business. The inherent grumpiness is a marketing tool to hid my bubbly personality. The wife is a darling for the last 26 years.

Opposite my hotel and highly rated on Lonely Planet and TripAdvisor, I had to try it. Casa Mia didn't disappoint. Friendly service. The menu is extensive with Thai Burmese and Italian dishes, so plenty of choice. I was feeling adventurous and went for the Burmese pumpkin chicken curry. It was very good and very filling. It cost only 60 Baht. A large Chang was 80 Baht. There's free wifi and a toilet. I'd eat here again.

I passed a great morning here, cooking and eating. Staff are polite and friendly and the food is delicious. I got pretty bitten in the garden, but you can probably avoid this by paying more attention to using repellent and the mosquito coils. Even you don't do the cooking course, I recommend buying the recipe book. It has easy to understand recipes and nice cultural notes. Practical notes -- it closes on Mondays and doesn't serve alcohol

There are Thai restaurants, and then there are THAI RESTAURANTS. This is where locals and important Thai visitors eat. First, the property is beautiful, a tropical garden with incredible orchids and water features. OK, you didn't come to eat the orchids -- good luck finding a better menu! Diverse, lots of choice, well prepared. When I was last there it was half full of high level Government Officials from Bangkok, surrounded by staff and security. And since this is Thailand, you would never really know . . . everyone is super low key, quiet and busy eating :) This restaurant would be a first choice in Chiangmai or Bangkok, it just happens to be in Mae Sot. Don't miss it. (They have a sister restaurant in Chiangmai.)
