$12.00 isn't a bad price for a good buffet. The service was great, with tables cleared quickly and drinks filled regularly. The ambiance and presentation were great with dimmed lighting and soft blue lights around the walls/ceiling (almost romantic). The serving trays were full and the selections abundant, including sushi which I resist. It all tasted great. I will be back.

A Vietnamese lady with preschool twin daughters started a shop in the Food Court at Merle Hay Mall. The little girls sat at a table and drew with colors as the mother cooked and served food to customers. The Mall Walkers Club and other customers fell in love with the mother and the twins. They became loyal lunch customers and the restaurant business grew. The mother started all you can eat Friday lunches. The business grew more. The food is authentic and very tasty. The prices are very cool petitive. There is free parking in the mall parking lot. There is a big open dining room area of tables and chairs in the Food Court. She has moved her business one time to a larger kitchen area. I think in due time she will expand to a larger space again. She has one employee now but she will need more employees soon.

I really liked all the options. It would take a few visits to try everything i want to eat. Unique drinks to go along with the meal. I will be back next time in Des Moines area.

I generally like Chinese food. Stir-fried food generally has that nice crisp fresh food taste with nice flavors coming through. I was, therefore, disappointed with the food at Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant. The great flavors of the meat and vegetables were hidden under a generous layer of "corn-starchy" sauce that lacked interest. Service was reasonably good and our orders were delivered promptly. It was a little difficult getting our check at the end of the meal as after our dishes were served, our server didn't pay much attention to us.The food was okay but not interesting and I wouldn't return.

I've been disappointed, since returning to the Des Moines area, to not find a single Chinese restaurant I want to return to. After Colorado Springs, the choices here are pedestrian at best. China Cafe was perfectly adequate, busy, had good service, and the food was prepared well and was hot. And thoroughly undistinguished

Newly opened. Just reviewed today in The Des Moines Register Newspaper. Great value, service and sushi as well as various Asian dishes.
I've been here many times in this place gets a lot of hyperbole about being the best sushi in Des Moines. It may be I have unreasonable expectations because I lived in Japan and Hawaii and California. There are at least two other sushi restaurants in Des Moines one downtown in one near downtown that are equally as good or better in some ways. They still haven't cleaned up their bathrooms here and it really cost a lot of stress to one of the people I was with and there's not too much excuse for that. they also serve a variety of food which is one of the reasons I wanted to come because one of my friends does not like sushi but wanted a Chinese food. the problem is they don't know how to get it together or at least the last time I was there they did not know how to get it together so the meals came out at the same time and not one on one over 15 minutes. If you read my review so you can see that I normally don't post too much negative things and if it's a really bad experience I don't post it all. I just don't think they deserve all this kind of rave reviews that they get one it's really not that special. having said that if you have reasonable expectations you'll have a fairly good meal just be prepared to wait and realize that the parking also is miserable especially in the winter they don't go out and salt things so it's can be dangerous when the parking lot freezes over and what you have to walk in.
We are on our way to a wedding and stopped in town for the night. This place was right across the street from our hotel and right off the interstate. The smells upon walking in are worth paying for. Expecting something yummy because of the wonderful aroma. Not disappointed. The garlic mussels were topnotch. The twice cooked pork was also very very good. As little spice and all cooked to order. When back in town we will be here again.

A much-needed addition to the paltry Johnston dining scene, Wasabi is perfect for groups or a date with your main squeeze. The atmosphere in the dining area is modern and energetic, and the food was amazing. There's a small outdoor dining area, the bar is pretty neat if you like sitting at one of those, and the main dining area has plenty of booths and large open tables to choose from.We ate here with a group on a Friday night in the summer, and it was quite busy. The staff was able to keep up with everything and the service was quite attentive. We ended up sharing some rolls and a couple bottles of wine - it was a really nice night out. I was pleased with the selection of fish / sushi rolls, everything was fresh and well presented. The next time I eat here, I want to try one of the sushi dinners for two - it seemed like a really great value and the food looked amazing. Our bill was less than I expected it to be, and the food was much better than most sushi places. Overall, I was really impressed.
