If you come to this place order the laotian dishes! The Larb was fantastic and the sticky rice was also one of the better ones. The service is typical Laotian laid-back (=slow) so I would not recommend to come here if you are really hungry but in this case I think the corner store is the only good choice in the country. The place is located on the main road of town which is quite busy and loud but you will definitely get a local flavour of life if you sit down here.
the waitress was kinda slow, honestly, she has mental retardation like kinda Down's syndrome, but she was nice... you have to point the food u want to order in the menu... the food was simply okI strongly suggest that u plan ur trip without staying overnight at this town, there is nothing to do or see... most guesthouses and restaurants are average to low quality... Luang Namtha (in Laos) and Chiang Khong (in Thailand) are the next cities better to visit

In a town with very little to offer outside of hostels and little cafes for food, this bar offers both food and drink at good prices. Despite the food being tasty, filling and in decent amounts, the service is dire and in need of some serious upheaval. I understand that people in Laos are more relaxed but the lack of a smile and any communication during service is appalling.

We struggled to find much in the way of customer service in this town, but Bar How provided just enough rise to the top of a relatively short pile. The drinks list is massive, with a good selection of locally made flavoured Lao whiskeys. Their smoothies are quite decent too.The bar is mainly staffed by the owners young daughters. But we only visited outside of school hours so I canât comment about possibly child labor issues. As waitresses they are both fairly efficient, but whoever is making the food out the back (itâs possibly also the daughters) gets overwhelmed pretty quickly. As a result, you can be waiting for a fairly long time for a meal. So this isnât a place to go if youâre in a hurry. There are also long times where no staff will be seen on the floor, so you have to go looking for them. But once you get their attention theyâre quite quick to respond. The food is pretty good. The chicken burger and fries was a solid offering. The place filled up with tourists after we had sat there for a while and everyone seemed to enjoy what they were eating. In summary, there are possibly better places in town but there are definitely worse ones.

I ate here at lunch. Simple food but staff are the ultimate friendly. Try to help the community and children. Donate something. You can be here partying in southeast Asia but helping the community is always a must do.
We are both vegetarian, and having been travelling SE Asia for a few weeks now have found it difficult to find good, vegetarian local food. The owner was so friendly and chatty, and spoke perfect English. We explained that we would like our dish spicy, without meat, fish or fish sauce, and he understood completely and made us feel that we would be getting what weâd asked for. The food was excellent, and the owner ensured us the meals were prepared without meat or fish. We were presented afterwards with some complimentary fruit as dessert, and we chatted for a while afterwards about our travelling plans and life back at home. Overall it was one of the best meals Iâve had so far in SE Asia, definitely worth a visit if youâre in Huay Xai.
