Hunan Hibachi Buffet

The lunch buffet is only $8.00 including tax!!!!!!! The food quality ranges from only OK to quite good. The selection, however, is excellent! There is an area with several types of Japanese-style rolls (I won't call them sushi rolls, because none of them had sushi fish in them) that were reasonably tasty. This buffet, for only $8.00 including tax, even has peel and eat shrimp! There are a wide variety of probably 30 or maybe 40 items on the buffet, including a couple of beef dishes and pork dishes, along with the typical several chicken dishes. There is also a section with pizza and some other "American" type foods, but the onion rings wern't that good. Many of the chinese dishes I tried were pretty good. Obviously, the $8.00 price has to limit the quality somewhat or they would quickly go out of business, but overall it was pretty good. Again, the variety and selection is excellent!Did I mention the price is only $8.00 including tax? I will return. You should try it.

I have eaten here many times, and have found the quality to be uniformly good, the staff to be polite, and the service to be adequate. (One must not expect fast service when food is cooled to order.)The prices are not cheap, but are reasonable for the quality of food offered.

Toshi Sushi & Grill

Convenient location - across parking lot from the Hampton. I ate here with a coworker. We both had the all you can eat sushi. The service was prompt and courteous. The food wasn't bad, just not the best sushi I have ever had. The one thing I think they could improve is the rice (It was dense and took over every roll). Overall it is an economical not bad convenient sushi location. I would return.

Chan's Chinese Restaurant

The ordering process was easy, so that was nice and convenient. When I arrived, the food was ready, which was also nice. Sadly, that's about where the nice ends. I had ordered potstickers and the lunch special beef with broccoli. The potstickers came with plum sauce, not potsticker sauce, and were really greasy and chewy. The flavor was good, but there was too much dumpling to get through. The beef was awful. Way too salty and did not have a good flavor. The white rice (I requested instead of fried) was okay, but the egg roll was soft and didn't have much flavor. I will not be back.

It's in an odd location; we passed the lot entrance and the building is nondescript. Beyond that, though, you get a variety of sushi options to choose from. The atmosphere is sophisticated but casual, the service was quick, and the food was really good.We tried a variety of rolls: Playgirl, Waukegan, Spicy Salmon and one other. All were very good; we'd get them again if we're in the area for dinner. The other couple at our table enjoyed the sushi burritos.Pricing is typical of sushi restaurants.

Hayashi Japanese Restaurant

Reviewed By JTbull2015

My mother is Japanese. After trying Japanese restaurants in the northern suburbs, she prefers Hayashi. The sushi chef has been at this restaurant for decades & never disappoints. We ordered a big sushi plate for a backyard party & it was the first dish to disappear. We've ordered most of the dishes over the past 20 years & the fish is always fresh. Plus their tempura is the best ever; the closest I've had was in Japan. This restaurant is on Grand Avenue in a strip mall setting. So, it's not romantic setting. It's also somewhat small. There are always people picking up carry-out dishes. They have a nice sushi bar but have small tables. If in a group, I would only recommend no more than 6.

Royal Thai

If I could rate the Royal Thai a zero, that would have been a preferred choice. Overall, some of the food at this place taste good, no doubt. Hey I don't expect anything expect anything less of a restaurant with many competitors. The food portion is overly priced. I think one good reason is the desire to get their tips ahead of service. Never been to a restaurant where servers are overly cautious of tips. I expect to tip when I eat in but certainly not when I pick up or pay doordash for my delivery. I write this because the expression on their faces when I pick up is telling, despite being a regular that dines in and tip well. There are many professions/jobs where people work so hard to help others and only get thank you or perhaps none. So, I don't quite get it that the expectation should always be tipping when NOT dine alone or with family/friends. I thought I was overthinking or perhaps overacting, but when other friends express similar concerns based on their recent experience, I really think you need to know what others are saying about your services. I don't only expect to be treated royally when I or my family/friends dine in because of course you expect to be tipped, I expect the same treatment when we pick-up or request a delivery.
