This small site at a crossroads in rural northern Bellingham is a gem. Family-owned, the chef offers several entrees each from Italian, Asian and Mexican roots. We started with two orders of spring rolls. They are artfully displayed, crisp with the flavors of the vegetables prominent. The chef served enough of them so that everyone in our party of five had two. The Carne Asada was a generous serving of flavorful beef (all of the entrees are large). The beef nachos, listed as an appetizer, was plenty for an entree serving. The penne creamy pistachio pesto was a great marriage of the flavors, the pasta al dente, and plenty left over for a lunch. The Chinese chicken salad served as an entree for one in our party, and it had a generous portion of chicken, nicely grilled and tender. While seating is limited, the restaurant does a brisk take-out business. We were amazed at the ability of the kitchen to keep the dishes being served to the tables in the restaurant nicely paced while churning out the orders to do quickly. This place is razor-focused on doing the compact menu's items (16 entrees, 5 appetizers and 5 salads) exceptionally well. Prices are fair, beer and wine are available. Our courage fee was $10--quite fair.

It's excellent. The fish is pristeen and service is good. We enjoyed plenty of nigiri, two rolls and some of the appetizers. The presentations are highly artistic--and one involving fried shiso leaves topped with salmon was especially inspired and attractive. It will be the first thing I order on my return visit, and I will go back soon!Nami considers itself a beer restaurant and with Japanese food that's very understandable--the beer selection is terrific. Unfortunately for those of us who can't drink beer, the wine list falls short of expectations--the wines were lower-end, and at the soft/sweet end of the dry spectrum and not everyone likes that. Hopefully the owners get some guidance on that soon.

We moved to Lynden a few months ago and Chandara Thai was the first restaurant we tried - it confirmed we'd moved to the right place! With Bellingham eateries so close, we didn't know if we'd find delicious dining in Lynden but Chandara Thai proved it can hold its own with the competition. From the super friendly staff and charming owner "Apple," to the best Thai food we've ever eaten (and we've eaten in different cities and states), this is the place to bring families with picky eaters, guests who are looking for a nice evening out or for that special date night. It's set in a windmill with an indoor koi stream and bridges visible from your table - makes for an unforgettable experience!

I live on Vancouver Island now where Mexican food is unavailable. I sometimes long for a taste of really good Mexican food and make it at home on occasion. I was very happy to see the high ratings for El Nopal when planning to pass through Sumas on the way to friends.I stopped for lunch, thought the restaurant well appointed and the server friendly. I ordered a Chimichanga and enjoyed the chips and salsa which was decent to average. When the meal arrived the rice and beans were good, but the Chimichanga was off. I believe the restaurant had waited too long to change out their cooking oil as the Chimi tasted a bit rancid. It was not good. Perhaps business has been slow with the hot summer days and horrible smoke from fires, but oil needs to be changed regardless. Also, the bathroom was tiled and built to a very high quality standard, but the sink area had not been washed in a week or more and the walls badly needed a cleaning.

Ordered food close to closing time. Paid close to $60. Went home and open the cartons and could not believe how greasy and skimpy the portions were. Could not distinguished chicken from the vegetables, and meat in the beef dish was mushy and tasted terrible. I called the establishment to voice my concerns and there was no offer of compensation or refund. I don't think this is a good way to run a business. I don't think it should matter if you order your food after they open or before they close it should be the same quality and this food was far from fresh.
