After we visited to Lion Monument and Church of Leodegar we lunch in Thai restaurant. This Thai restaurant not so big but still can occupy few tables inside. We need to pick order through the counter and make the payment. Not wait for long, our food is served. The portion is big and price is reasonable. Worth to have it. Total bill is Chf 54.50.

I have visited this restaurant for dinner as I was attracted from the beautiful decoration that you can see from outside on my way back home. Very pleasant food and service experience. I will definitely go back. Ambience: very refined and cozy. Beautifully furbished by a Taiwanese interior designer (if I have correctly understood) who has preserved also some of the original features. Silk lanterns, fresh orchids and candle light make it a perfectly exotic and romantic place. The restaurant has opened in this location in the heart of the Altstadt back in 1959 and it was the very first Chinese restaurant in China. It was opened by a former Chinese diplomat and his German wife. The daughter, Greta Chi, in art Greta Maxwell, has been an actress in some minor movies in the US (apart from an appearance in the TV series Bewitched), she has been running the restaurant several years and eventually sold it in 2010 to the facing nice hotel âZum weissen Kreuzâ. The building where there is the restaurant today is very old and there is even a builder of Wagner who used to go there too, when it was something else. I have just seen the ground floor room, but the restaurant is really big and has two more floors. In summer you can eat outside and I definitely going to try.Service: very friendly and professional. I was dining alone and everybody was really lovely and entertaining. The restaurant manager is originally from Sri Lanka, one of the most beautiful countries I have visited in Asia. He has been working for the restaurant for 30 years and knows a lot of interesting things about the history of the place in case you love digging into the story and the soul of the places where you eat. I have also met one of the cooks and overall the staff was impeccable. Food: I recommend what I have ordered: Chicken with morels (Chinese mushoorms) and a portion of dim sum. I have lived in China ten years and have found the food authentic and delicate. I would like if Iâd tell this is the best Chinese I had, but probably is the best you can find in town. I appreciate also that there was not much (if any) MSG and the seasonings were very delicate. The chicken meat was delicious, as usual in Switzerland. Likewise everything in Switzerland, it is expensive: 6 dim sum for nearly CHF 20, the chicken with morels about CHF 30 (I had it alone but the portion could suffice also for two not too hungry persons), but I would not blame the restaurant as wherever you go in Switzerland, prices are by far higher than other expensive cities.Dear 464emanuelathank you so much for your excellent review. As you noticed we have 6 chinese chefs in the kitchen to serve authenitc food, they are directly form Peking. Our visit to this place is definitely satisfying. The restaurant is more of a tea house with a modern chic design. The host was a very friendly and kind chinese lady. They have a lot of different chinese teas hence the tea menu was thicker than the food menu which was only on 1 page. Although they have limited food choices (dimsum, noodles, dessert) but they are quite delicious. We had ordered a beef noodles (16CHF) with pork dumplings (14CHF). As for the drinks, we had tried their homemade cold rose tea (4.5CHF) and it was quite sweet and refreshing.

We were looking for a casual restaurant serving non-Western food to find a break from all of the Swiss food we were having. This place fit the bill and seemed to meet the same kind of demand for other Asian tourists we saw at other tables, including those from South Asia and China. The food is straight-forward Thai with very little alteration. The curries were not complex but still very good - Green curry chicken was filling and nourishing. The atmosphere was quite laid back and casual. I don't think they accept reservations and we stood in line to get a table. The place is not big, so it might take some effort to sit down if your party is larger than 4. There appeared to be several outlets close to each other - Phanat No. 1, 2 and 3. I went to the one which is like the photos that are posted here. Good food. Also, a nice lower bill as compared to all the sit-down European places we went to.

Restaurant Mekong Asian Bistro & Bar Mekong offers a diverse selection of Asian cuisine and Sushi for lunch and dinner. The relaxed, Asian inspired design features a bar in the heart of the restaurant, providing a special dining experience.
Mekong is a very good option for anyone in Lucerne looking for good quality Asian cuisine. I particularly recommend the beef ginger stir fry or their curries. Portions are very generous and I always manage to take some home with me which is really convenient. The staff were very kind - we came in on a Friday night without reservation and they accommodated us without hesitation, even returning to our table to ensure us that we did not have to hurry with dinner. I am an absolute fan and will certainly return. Based on TA recommendation, we arrived albeit a bit late at 9.35pm (closing time 10pm) n only 2 choices available for takeaway. Without asking us, they proceed to wrap the larger portion food. I found out after paying that there is a smaller portion. I find this practice not ethical, taking advantage of tourists. The food is salty.
