It's great to have a local sushi restaurant for variety. You can't shake a chopstick without hitting a hamburger joint around here, but Summer Hokkaido offers something entirely different. They seem to specialize in sushi rolls, but you can also get teriyaki, sushi by the piece, etc. Plenty of room and good prices are part of the draw.

We frequently stop here on Saturday afternoons for take-out after working to clean up an abandoned African-American cemetery. The hostess (wish I knew her name) is always friendly and polite, the food is fresh and good, as long as it has just come out of the kitchen. Problem with a buffet is that if the food sits, it loses its freshness. So we've learned WHEN to come in -- usually after 4PM is best. One of these days, we'll actually have to eat in! I can't report on specific items on the buffet because I really enjoy most of them. After having fantastic Chinese in Boston's Chinatown many times, this restaurant is about as good as it gets outside a major Chinese settlement.

On the menu my order said it came with fried rice. It came with brown mushy rice and that's it. I have never ordered from a Chinese place and got fried rice with nothing other than brown mushy rice.
