Restaurant & Guesthouse
I liked the view from this place. There were good choices for Thai food and I liked the taste(I think the owner is a Thai). But some of the reviews - "Best food in Laos" are definitely overrated, or exaggerated.

1st fish restaurant in Don Det.
At the Boathouse you will find excellent food, great friendly people (bountip and mike) and if you want to stay nice bungalows as well.Bountip is an excellent cook and the catfish with potato-mash is not typical loa-food but taste wounderful. It's a great relaxing place and i always love to stay here for a few days.

Very bright lights and a menu that takes ten minutes to read. Food was good and cheap and theyâve got every dish you could want-Thai, Lao, Vietnamese and European . Duck koy was good and spicy washed down with a chilled cider!

After a long day out on the river kayaking we were in need of food! The chicken tika and veg dishes we ordered were great. I did not love the butter chicken. The lime shake was perfect and refreshing. Overall, satisfying food and friendly service.

This place is a gem! The food is absolutely amazing, we've eaten here three nights in a row. Definitely try: pork with garlic and pepper, pumpkin burger and the fish and chips! The cocktails are also good, yet be aware the happy hour of "buy two get one free" means that you have to buy two and get the third one free. And the view is stunning.

Based on reviews we made the trek out to this restaurant. Iâm so glad we did! My favourite place on Don Det to eat. Big portions of really good food. We had the massaman curry and also the chicken with garlic, peppers and vegetables- really tasty. And the setting is so peaceful and relaxing right on the river. There are buffalos around and it just has a great feel. Definitely come here while on Don Det. You wonât regret it!
