Fortuna Garden Chinese Restaurant

Reviewed By Mixedtraveller

Decore and first impressions are poor. Plastic table clothes, very old fashioned and tired. That can be all forgiven if the food is great but it was sadly ORDINARY at best. Sweet and sour poor greasy in thick batter. Needs new fresh oil. Other dishes also ordinary. Time to get a new chef and owners to re vamp the place. We won’t return.

Absolute wase of money ! Noodles were bland and flavourless. Vegies were non existent. The hot and spicy was no even the tiniest bit chilli flavoured. Just one big gloppy mess. How can you order mutiple dishes and have a bland mess and expect 50 bucks for it. Extremely dissapointed and will NEVER be returning.

Mandarin Palace

We were surprised by this restaurant! The food is well cooked and authentic Chinese. We were impressed when we ordered scallops with ginger and amazed by the serve of scallops. In any restaurants you would have to look hard to count the scallops but they really are serving scallops at this restaurant!! The Chillie Beef (not in the menu) was exceptional and so was the Chicken with pepper sauce. The 4 of us just wolved down the meal so fast that we shocked ourselves. The seafood towfo was very good! We had a bottle of merlot to go with the food and it was not overpriced. The service was friendly and very quick. We were happy with the level of service as well as the standard of cooking at this restaurant!!

Dave’s will provide a variety of reasonably priced Asian stir fry’s and soups usually in a timely and efficient manner. Taste, flavour and quality can be a little hit and miss. Dave’s was open on a public holiday which was a bonus considering the very limited food options that night! Dine in or take away. Parking available close by.

We patronized this restaurant twice. First nite with a group of 9 and we ordered dishes to share. Corkage at $3 was a bit pricey when this is a restaurant that is almost a corner cafe with no table cloth and very small eatery. All the other BYO in town charges $2.50.Food was something else. The Thai dishes in green curry, panang curry, mix entree, seafood curry etc etc were EXCELLENT! We asked for spicy and we were blown away!! Food was definitely cooked by a Thai Chef. The meals are pricy at $28+ per main with rice. Two days later just the 2 of us went for dinner. We had a bowl of laksa and a pad thai. The serves were not very large but the 2 dishes came to a total of $53. When one compare the price of laksa and pad thai in Sydney or Melbourne restaurant...the laksa at $25 and the Pad thai at $28 are well above the capital city prices and the dish are not large servings. While we are happy with the quality of the dishes and the cooking, the prices definitely do not reflect the restaurant environment and setting. It is more of a corner mom/pop cafe but charges fine dining for dishes that in capital cities would be a lot less.
