Having had a light lunch on arrival in Bukhara we returned for dinner that evening. Although the restaurant was very busy Valentina found us a table on the balcony and served us with a smile throughout the meal. I chose grilled lamb chops, which were as good as any I've ever eaten (and we live on the borders of wales, where local lamb is superb!). My wife had a local dish which she said was very good. A very good bottle of red wine accompanied the meal. Valentina was a charming hostess and helped to make this a really good experience. We would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Whilst the salads we had here were the best weâve had so far in Uzbekistan (we had aubergine and mushroom salads), the kebabs were underwhelming given the fact that everywhere is serving up delicious shashlik. The review a little further down is correct - we felt that as tourists, we had been given the worst cuts of the chicken. This included two smallBoneless pieces and one leg per kebab. The actual problem with serving different shapes of meat on a kebab is obvious - the larger ones will be undercooked. My boyfriend is colourblind and unfortunately he had eaten half of his pink chicken leg before I looked over and realised the inside was uncooked. My leg too, when I opened it, was pink. Service was fine (not amazing, not awful and not sleazy as others have commented). The real let down was uncooked chicken which really is poor form. We also noticed a lot of locals receiving more attention at their tables and more food being offered to them, such as the waiter walking round with a big tray full of salads for them to choose from. The double standards is annoying. If youâre coming here, stick to salads and lamb/beef kebabs to avoid food poisoning which, fingers crossed, wonât set in for my boyfriend.

If you rated the Bukhara Restaurants relative to world standards you would offend them all so this rating reflects relativity to others around.It was OK food, possibly a little better than some but still fairly standard kebab and the usual fare. Service was fine but not special and prices were higher.

The restaurant is large with both indoor and outdoor seating. It has a bar and live music. Food is great - wide choice, portions substantial, well presented, and tasty. Service is efficient and price reasonable.
