This cafe/diner is clearly very popular and there is always a queue of people waiting to get in. I finally decided to try it out and after waiting about half an hour was eventually seated by the (reasonably) friendly staff. The menu is extensive and while I'd say what myself and my friend ordered was good I'm not sure I'd say it was good enough to sit and wait half an hour (I'd suggest longer at lunch time) for a table. I would happily return but only if I could be seated straight away which I think would only happen at 6am.

Great steak dinner. Everything from the caesar salad to the filet to the baked potato to the rice pilaf to the mushrooms....all delicious. Our Server, Steiner, made the visit even better. Excellent service...so pleasant...could not do enough. He really adds a lot to a fabulous meal. Great atmosphere. Reasonable prices

We just had dinner while staying at Lamp Riter inn next door. Food was excellent. Grilled cod, mashed potatoes, ceasar salad, beef fajitas. Food was well prepared, tasty and the service much above the normal chain restaurants. We love the ambience Highly recommend for any occasion. Plenty of parking

Not only reviews that were generally positive, there is also a pronounced interest in craft brewing beer. Positive and energetic waitress guided us through the large menu.No great gastronomic exercises, but stable dishes that have a large audience. The beer varieties were completely satisfying. The interior is not the big audience magnet.

This restaurant lives up to its billing as the best for breakfast in Visalia. We each had the traditional Danish breakfast and enjoyed every morsel. We arrived early to avoid the eventual rush and the place was filling with customers by the time we left. Rather diverse decor beyond anything Danish. There were traditional Mexican items among the various decorations. Where we were seated was under an area focused on the late years of the Pacific theater of WWII which intrigued us. Most notable was the framed penny post card we sat directly under. It celebrated in bold underlined letters the end of that conflict in a way that displayed the euphoria felt by those in the far Pacific in August 1945.

Letâs face it â thereâs nothing quite like having a friendly restaurant when you donât feel like cooking for yourself. The great thing about the Black Bear Diner in Visalia is that we excel at creating dishes that feel homemade. Whether youâre looking for
We had dinner here and it didnât disappoint. Tasty food and good sized servings. Had a senior meal which suited perfectly. The only down side was that the staff were a little rushed and off hand.

You can order pasta, steak or pizza and you will not be disappointed. We normally come by for appetizers and drinks and are never disappointed. The jambalaya is incredible along with the bread and the house dip. Don't forget to order a drink from the bar, they are real good.

Not unlike the first one, here there was no room to try the menu. However, still room for more craftmanship produced beer, our choice was unfortunately one of the year's most mediocre. Bartender still serviceminded even though we stepped in close to closing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our entrees of pork tenderloin and beef brochette (meats were moist and tender, and sauces were fantastic) but they were $30 and $37 respectively. The atmosphere was awesome with lots of wood everywhere, Tiffany style hanging lamps and jazz playing overhead. Service was measured, even with us as the only patrons in the Rose Room on a Sunday evening.
