Ventura, officially the City of San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, United States. European explorers encountered a Chumash village, referred to as Shisholop, in Ventura while traveling along the Pacific coast. The eponymous Mission San Buenaventura was founded nearby in 1782 where it benefitted from the water of the Ventura River. The town grew around the mission compound and incorporated in 1866. The development of nearby oil fields in the 1920s and the age of automobile travel created a major real estate boom during which many designated landmark buildings were constructed. The mission and these buildings are at the center of a downtown that has become a cultural, retail, and residential district and visitor destination.

We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Ventura & Santa Barbara Harbor. You'll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at these true-blue waterfro
Had eaten at its counterpart in Santa Barbara but our dinner in Ventura ranged from fair to fair, whether the clam appetizer, the calamari, the. pasta, etc. Nothing was bad, nothing memorable. Perhaps the crowd overcame the chef for this visit.

Tasty steakhouse on the Ventura pier. Upscale dining offering prime rib and steaks including a rare and blue, baseball filet, and peppercorn and mushroom sirloins. Ahi salad included a nice portion or rare ahi. Wedge salad dressed with the perfect amount of bacon, red tomatoes, and chunky blue cheese dressing. Booths and tables as well as seating for large parties available. Jacket potatoes were delicious with flaky with salt crusted skin. Perfect for special celebrations.

I really, really do not like kitsch, so had not a friend recommended the Busy Bee, I would not have gone there. But I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. My wife had a pulled-pork sandwich, which was overflowing with juicy, flavorful meat, better than some I have had in barbecue joints. I had a veggie burrito, which has had quite a variety of vegetables -- at least two types of beans, two types of squash, two types of peppers, corn, rice, avocado . . . . It was tasty!Service was reasonably prompt and attentive, although my water glass was never refilled!!! Noise level was OK despite a crowd. The front is quieter than the back.

Anacapa has been brewing its own beers for about 20 years and theyâre still doing a great job. We recently picked a flight of five beers for tasting (enjoyed them all!) and several appetizers to eat along with the beers. The ahi tuna and onion rings were our two favorite. If you like red ales, Santa Rosa Red is especially good. If you like pale ales, get Frenchyâs Cove Saison. Very refreshing and great taste!

Totally enjoyed lunch at this dockside restaurant. Have had fish and chips in countless places - my favorites were always somewhere in the U.K., until now. Unusual character at the next table recommended the âshmeeâ. Couldnât figure out what that was, and he was a bit bizarre anyway, so went with the âoriginalâ fish - and loved it. Will go back whenever weâre next in Ventura,Hello David,How lovely to read your thoughts and review! Thank you kindly!I look forward to seeing you in again on your next visit to Ventura!:)Andria

Focusing on fresh, house made food along with specialty craft cocktails and beer. Casual atmosphere with friendly staff. Family friendly.
Thoroghly enjoyed dinner here! The beer was cold and delicious - nice selection! Try the brussels sprout appetizer - Yummy! The tri-tip melt was wonderful on that crispy bun! Service was at a nice pace - unhurried and not pushy. Will be back the next time we are in town!!!

Voted best fish taco in the county.
Tasty tacos in a casual restaurant. Shrimp or fish, breaded or broiled with good tortillas and speciality sauces. Perfect for family and friends. Also enjoyed the street tacos. Offers a bar, indoor booth, and outdoor seating. We went back the next day for another round.

French toast for brunch was tasty. I prefer traditional maple syrup to their house syrup that comes with this dish. The downside of Cafe Nouveau (upside for them!) is that it's always busy, even on weekday mornings. It's always a wait to get a table and somewhat noisy if you want to carry on a conversation with a friend. The ambiance of the garden setting is nice.

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on our way to the airport. My husband had the corned beef hash and I had their workers plate with meat. Both were excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the corned beef hash was homemade. We both had the biscuit with their homemade strawberry jam, which was fabulous. We encourage you to give Pete's a try.
