Having never been here before and being a little skeptical I decided to give them the ultimate chance to impress me and ordered the porterhouse (a t-bone with the New York on one side and the filet on the other). The steak came and it was pretty bland and mushy. Iâm assuming it had been frozen at one point. Donât need to try this again We hate that we let you down. First time visit. Went after a cross country race. Good for all ages. Lots on the menu. The service was great. Very good breakfast. They have a section for âman size breakfast â. Itâs pretty funny but if your hungry, this is the section of the menu for you. Price is a bit high. Good food and honest service.

Well these guys deserve an extra star from me. Natalie the hostess allowed me to sit and order even though the kitchen was technically closed . She was friendly and even more awesome for doing this!! Then I had another great BJ worker, Mike, he suggested a few brews in the taster and they were all great! Then I just made dinner easy and the kitchen did not disappoint. House sirloin (medium) roasted asparagus and a tomato & mozzarella salad. Will definitely come back here just for the great service again even being so late. Again Natalie thank you .

You know the best thing about the Black Bear Diner in Vacaville? We donât, either â because everything about it is so great! Maybe itâs the tasty food. Perhaps itâs the friendly employees. Most likely, itâs a combination of both⦠and thatâs exactly what b
Nothing too special but the food was good, service was fast and prices werenât too bad except for coffee (2.79)!The calories on the dishes made me very cautious what I chose!

Over the years I have visited this Tahoe Joeâs numerous times. This review is based off the two most recent visits over the past few months. For starters, the restaurant itself is beginning to show some age. Itâs in need of some new decor and paint. At one time the interior here looked amazing where as now, it looks outdated and worn. The food, which used to be on the good side of things, has dropped to being below average and bad when you take into account the price. Most recently I had the fish and chips, which also includes a few shrimp. The shrimp wasnât too bad. Too much batter and slightly over cooked, but easily edible. The fish suffered from the same issue. Too much batter. On top of that, the kitchen seems to have fried everything in the basket and just dumped everything directly on the plate as opposed to scooping out the actual fish and shrimp. My plate had tons of pieces of fried batter all over and the fish and shrimp were essentially stuck together in a fried lump. The fries were horrible. Not one of them was crispy and they had more the texture of some breakfast potatoes than fries. The previous visit I had a steak, which despite being cooked correctly, lacked flavor and quality. The steak here used to be quite good, but now all items seem to just be rushed out of the kitchen with little to no effort to make sure things are prepared correctly or are presented well. The service has been horrible. Both of the last two times I went, our table was completely ignored for periods of 20 minutes or more. We thought the first time was a fluke, but the second time experiencing the same thing shows that the restaurant isnât training their servers correctly or theyâre doing a horrible job seating and monitoring their wait staff. For the price you pay to eat here, nothing is up to par. Not the restaurant, not the food, and certainly not the service. There are numerous cheaper or better options throughout Vacaville. Don't waste your time here.

Hubby and I met four other friends here last Saturday for brunch. This was a new adventure for all of them, although we had dined here before. EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed the food, the location, and the service. Brunch was delightful, and included Champagne, if desired. The six of us had a variety of items: waffles, omelettes, fresh salmon, eggs Benedict. We all thought the food was quite good and our waitress, Julie, was perfect. She offered us exceptional service and helped make our meal even more pleasurable. This restaurant was a win for all of us! Yes, we will be back and I imagine our friends will also.

The place was clean, busy, limited seating. Got the blta sandwich. The bacon was super hard, sweet and spicy at the same time. Hard to eat. The bread was also hard, I like sourdough but this was too tough. I like the side salad it came with. The total price was way expensive. 30 for two sandwichâs and drinks.

The Buckhorn empire still rains here.Really easy to get to, right of I-80 and a perfect stop on the way to or from somewhere.Excellent, tri-tip french dip kinda sandwich. Tender, juicy and delicious. Also, humongous salads with great chicken or other meats that are really good and can easily be shared. Lots of other good stuff (bar-b-que), beans, excellent service and great drinks. Forget the fast food joints and stop here, you'll be happy you did.

My wife took me to BackDoor Bistro for my birthday celebration on a Sunday evening. They were having one of their monthly wine dinners and featured Mangels wines; which is a local winery in the Fairfield area. The dinner was four courses and was paired with each of the wines. Highly recommend that you try the one of their wine dinners or anytime for it is an excellent restaurant..

On the one hand, the Black Oak gives large portions at reasonable prices, and the 20 minute wait attests to the fact that lots of people like this combo. My Mom and Sister both ordered off the senior menu and the portions are more rational. The food was pretty good. What I hesitate over is the entrance and decor. You have to wade through a crowded gift shop. Between the stuff they want your kids to ask for and the people waiting for a table, it is hard to get to the hostess stand. Then the restaurant itself is decorated with an abundance of plastic flowers that make me think of the dust and are just over the top. Our waitress was very competent. We used to stop here when we drove home to Sacramento from the Bay Area and it was a favorite because of the baked goods. I still make that trek on I-80 but I'm not sure I'd stop again.
