The good: Friendly hostesses & wait staff (thank you, Donovan); pleasantly decorated interior; good dining menu variety; the dishes were nicely presented; my wife enjoyed her prime rib & huge baked potato; and we agreed their freshly brewed iced tea was the best we've had ar a restaurant in a very long time. The not-so-good: My tureen of lobster bisque was very salty & had just a few bits of lobster meat; my bistro chicken entree with whipped potatoes & sauteed spinach was average at best; the final bill was about 20% higher than the overall value of our meals; and previous TA reviewers were right - the dining space conversational noise level was almost unbelievably high, making our own conversation across the table nearly impossible (tavern/pub-like volume in an upscale dining venue). For the price & the ambient noise, BrickTops rates no better than average with me. There are much more suitable competitors in the area if you're looking for a good meal & a chance to talk with friends or family.

We started in the bar area during HH with Jimmy making us feel special and welcome and then finished our visit when the other couple showed up around 6 in the main dining area with Lesley L, who carried on where Jimmy left off. We love that about CH along with their many great food offerings and wines. Keep up the good work. We'll be back.

Went to celebrate same month birthdays. Ordered the Kitchen Sink Skillet. Because it was recommended and having had the skillet breakfast at Kirkwood First Watch, was reasonably sure it would be enjoyed. Not so much. Not sure if they had a new cook or if this is their regular prep for this dish. The potatoes were very overdone and along with the mushrooms, onions, etc, had a strong hint of being slightly burnt with the burnt taste throughout thefood. Definitely not on a par with Kirkwood First Watch neither in quality nor price.

Our most recent visit was for my mom-in-law's birthday. Everything was superb. If you love a great steak, this is the place. The t-bone is almost beyond description. Huge, and done to perfection. Don't forget the creamed spinach! The wait staff are excellent. It's almost like eating at home. No wonder - it is a house disguised as a restaurant! A bucket list steakhouse experience for sure. Enjoy!

J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Maytag Bleu potato
This was a new restaurant for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Had the surf and turf special, which was cooked as requested and a good portions for the side. Bread and butter made on site. Good variety of desserts. Our servers was very accommodating and attended to our needs. Great experience and we will be back.

The Restaurant was packed on a Wednesday evening, principally a good sign. Reservations are a must.Attentive service, explaining the specials, knowledgeable regarding everything on the Menu. My starter was salmon carpaccio with prawn ceviche. Excellent, not too big in size - real starter. As main I had the Barramundi which was grilled well however, seasoned with far too much salt. Asking the Colleagues on the table they all felt the same, all fish dishes were too salty - the reason for me only rating with 3 stars.Desert still fitted in, i had the cheese cake with pineapple sorbet - delicious. I am sorry about your Visit. We are much better than what you experienced. I will get with my chef and make sure we review proper seasoning with our line team. If there is anything I can do for you in the future to make up for this please reach out to me at [email protected]. We thank you for your business. Thanks, Mitch Cleary General Manager.

Kreis' has been a St. Louis favorite for over 60 years. Famous for our world renowned Prime Rib.
Chose Kreis Restaurant to celebrate a 50th anniversary for my sister-in- law and her husband. It was a perfect dinner and great experience. The service is second to none. The women both had the prime rib, which was amazing. Cooked tp perfection. The men had the special, which was a peppercorn filet. Great flavor and very tender!!! You will never be disappointed with Kreisâs!!!
