Locally owned and operated by a well trained management and staff, this unit serves excellent food and it's worth the extra minute or so it takes to cook to order. Sides are consistently good and hot. Restaurant is always clean, well -stocked. Drive through is busy and efficient.

This was a nice niche bar/pub/restaurant a little hard to find but worth the search. The selection of bourbons was above average and the appetizers were excellent! Lucas took care to wait on us and had our food out promptly. The Red Lion seats about 30 people total. Loved the catfish or fish and chips as the brits would call them. We will be back!

Just driving past this place and smelling the barbecue will pull you in... for pulled pork, brisket, chicken and more. They have a couple different sauces. And their sides are very tasty -- especially the slow-cooked beans. It's very family friendly. No alcohol there, but plenty of good food in a casual, "come-as-you-are," atmosphere.

After circling around the block, we noticed this place and there was available parking so we slid right in and went inside. We ordered at the register. I had Benedictine and husband had egg salad. Benedictine is not available everywhere so I was anxious to try it. We ordered tap water and coffee. The sandwiches arrived quickly. The Benedictine was a very strange blue-green . . not what I expected at all. It was mainly cream cheese with bits of cucumber. Drinks were not brought so husband got up to ask for them. It seemed like you were supposed to get the water yourself but no one told us. The egg salad was okay.The place was crowded shortly after we entered just before noon and people kept coming in.It was the place to be for the community on Saturday down town.Thank you for your review. i will take steps to correct the items you brought to my attention. i certainly hope you will try us again.

Stopped in with about 12 guys from church on a Saturday morning and this was nothing special. Service was slow, waiter didn't get all the orders right, food was OK and the prices keep going up for basic breakfast fare which should be inexpensive. Best part of Cracker Barrell is the gift shop as they have some nice things and oftentimes some good finds in the Clearance section. If there was a better choice for breakfast in Shelbyville for up to 20 men we would probably go there but haven't found anything yet.

We had no idea it was the week of the open house...Christmas time. The highlight was the young choir from Henryville. Dressed in black dresses and tuxedos and sounding great!I used to go during their open house, back when it was decorated so beautifully and very crowded. Not so on either count this time.The friend who made our reservation never bothered to tell us this was going on nor that it was a buffet all week for $27. She went the day before and said she was unable to come with us this time. We only found out she had gone the day before via Face Book...BUSTED!A lovely buffet....salads, including pea which you don't see anymore, cucumber mold, green, chicken, etc and home made dressings. The bleu cheese was delightful on the sliced tomatoes. Country ham and fried chicken which was out of this world. I was worried since it wasn't so good last time I went. There was every vegetable you can think of including beets (yuck). Most were cold though. We asked about dessert and was told "apple crisp and bread pudding". We all hesitated until she added "with bourbon sauce". Actually, it was a bit embarrassing how all 4 of us quickly jumped on that.The "what used to be" great hot water cornbread, wasn't up to par, as it wasn't last time either. They resemble hush puppies only not done in the middle.I was full and it's always a delight to go up there. I just wish they could perfect that corn bread.

Went on Sunday (9/22), after normal lunch rush. Decided to try the buffet, and was really disappointed. I didn't try everything, granted - but the salad and dinner rolls, the other veggie dishes were really sub-standard. Collard greens, creamed spinach, stewed tomatoes - none of those had much flavor. The fried chicken was decent, but not even close to what I expected. The roast beef they sliced was ok, horseradish sauce with it helped. I tried what I believe was a brownie for dessert, it was nigh inedible. Considering the price for the buffet, it was an overall bad experience. Service was ok, they weren't very busy while we were there. I don't like giving bad reviews, honestly - I usually just don't go back, and won't recommend it to anyone who asks. Was just really surprised how a place like this, a local institution - could have such mediocre food.Thank you for leaving us a review. We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns! We were doing some shopping in Shelbyville and were looking for a new place to try. We found Bungalow Joes without much trouble. It has a Pub atmosphere and the food was good. My wife had the sliders with extra mushrooms and I went for the Gyro. The gyro meat was a little dry but very tasty overall. We will definitely go back to try other entrees.

Stopped for dinner after reading reviews online. Were on the way to Tennessee. The restaurant is in a building in use since the early 1800s and is lovely. Loved the grilled lemon bourbon lemonade. Beautiful presentation, great taste. The deviled eggs were so good as was the beet ravioli. The chef came to each table to chat with folks. If I am in the area I will be there again!

we had twice lunch here. the steaks are tender, the salad bar is plentiful and the iced tea is freshly made. The service is outstanding. This place is packed to the rim and parking..... if you do not mind to walk. Would come here again.
