I was talking to one of my co-workers about BBQ places in Shawnee. My co-worker is a native of this area and has explored most of the local restaurants. She recommended Billy Boy Bar-B-Que. It is a few blocks from the Oklahoma Baptist University main campus. When I arrived after work, the place was fairly busy. The restaurant is family-owned. I was greeting warmly. There is plenty of parking spaces. You order your food at the register. The menu includes hickory-smoked beef, turkey, and pulled pork. There were a variety of sides like baked beans, green beans, and cole slaws. Additionally, you can order fried catfish if you desire. The food was pretty good. If you are looking for good BBQ close to OBU, this restaurant is for you.

Great, unique food but the lady (owner) that runs the register is always yelling at someone and even at customers when they walk in to ask "how many" or will boss you around to tell you where to sit; even though it's open seating lol. I still visit often just because the food is really pretty good. Just be prepared for a little noise lol

Iâve eaten regularly at the Owl Shoppe for a few years - each time itâs a treat. A place to see locals and choose from a menu with options that you do not regularly see at a lunch spot. I like to suggest the crab cake sliders and a sweet potato side with cranberry ice tea. Every week there is out-of-this-world specials - like a lobster grilled cheese sandwich! I have also enjoyed catering service from here and it was a special treat for 75 guests. I highly recommend the Owl Shoppe as a Shawnee favorite.

We stop in for early dinner. This place has been around for nearly 90 years. You just know they got something right about barbecue and pie. My sandwich (Turkey) and potato salad side were good, but the different ice cream pie slices on nutted cookie crust were delicious. Butter pecan was creamy. Chocolate was silky. My brotherâs rocky road ice cream pie slice was terrific! The slice sizes are very generous. Yum!

Sunny Side Up Restaurant is close to downtown, and off the beaten path. It is a family-owned restaurant, and the owners and staff take the time to get to know their regular clientele. The food is very reasonably priced, and well prepared. Nothing fancy, just good home cooking.

The Garage was created when three men sat down one day and wanted to offer the best tasting hamburgers and fresh-cut fries. They started experimenting and came up with what we think is the finest hamburger in town.
Pros: Pretty decent to good customer service. My Sis and Bro kept telling us how great the burgers were but sadly my burger was wrong each time it came out. I gave up I didn't eat just watched everyone else eat smh lol. Guess it wasn't meant to be. My brother in law was very apologetic he was so bummed I didn't get to try it and that it was messed up so many times. Cons: Did not eat because the burger was sent back 3 times.I sincerely apologize for your negative experience with us. Perfect timing as we landed between the usual crowds. Monica, our waitress, was great. We had a chef salad and child plate w hashbrown casserole and pinto beans. Food was perfect as usual and the roaring fireplace was warm. Perfect spot for a cold winter day.

The food was great. But the service was so slow, one couple came in and was seated and they left when no one ever waited on them. Lots of staff.... just don't care about waiting on customers. I had the cod, excellent meal and we also had a cheeseburger, great food, great sweet potato fries. But be prepared to be here a while to get served and eat.Coy, Thank you for your comments. We were traveling from Elk City, Oklahoma (overnight stay) from Trinidad Colorado , were stopped for 11 miles over the limit & the dog alerted. The officer reassured me, âyouâre not under arrestâ - GOOD. but , Iâm taking your stash.....Leslie asked and TripAdvisor took us to #1 of 111 - The Hamburger King is a nostalgic, historical, hidden gem. We ordered by phone across the aisle to the chef! âOperator is waitingâ - I ordered my comparison burger, ....the verdict - Sciviqueâs Cafe in Port Vincent, Louisiana has the best Mayo, jalapeño, patty/bun.Keep partying and I will too.
