We've picked up two king cakes here this season and been delighted. Both have actually contained favors--one that would have been small enough for a child to accidentally swallow, so use appropriate judgement. The cakes were lovely and beautifully prepared. Wish this location was larger and had more ample parking. In short, a wonderful stop for pretty, delicious pastries for special occasions--and a great place to find seasonal delights as well. A bit pricey.

I reviewed this place about a year ago, but since then I've been back several times, and I wanted to update what I said previously. This restaurant is without question the best sandwich shop in the Roanoke Valley, and I would highly question the sanity of anybody who would suggest otherwise.I have personally eaten over 100 unique sandwiches throughout the valley in the past six months on a quest to find the best sandwich in the Roanoke Valley, and this place is where you'll find most of the best ones. The food is fantastic, and the people who run the place are so nice and welcoming.I have eaten ten different sandwiches here in 2018. Every single one was something I'd gladly order again. The Chicken Tandoori, Cajun Chicken, Manhattan, and Roanoker are all elite level sandwiches. The Florida Turkey, Burbank, and Italian Cold Cut are all really, really good. Finally, the Steak & Cheese, Salem, and Reuben are all good, and I'd happily eat any of them again. The french fries are fresh made and are always delicious. If you haven't been, you need to go. There are other places in this town which have some good sandwiches, but I've been nowhere that has this much quality across the board for all of their sandwiches. They've sold their souls to the sandwich devil, and I'm going along for the ride.

We were not disappointed. We had to drive a little ways off of I-81 to find it. Glad we did. Service was good & very reasonable. The plate portions were plentiful. Cost was reasonable, as well. Just looking around & it confirmed our thoughts that the locals enjoy eating here.

Huge variety sit down sandwich / sub shop, regional chain.
Silver Sage stopped off in the sleepy little town of Salem Virginia. We went we first walked into awful Arthurs restaurant which was completely empty and no one was there to greet us so we turned around and left. We then ventured into the little Mexican restaurant down the road and yet again it was open but not a soul to be seen. We called out but no one came forth to greet us. We continued our search for a bite to eat and happened upon Macadoâs. At first we were a little skeptical. We were immediately greeted by a glum young fellow. We wondered if he had a pulse? The music inside the restaurant was incredibly loud. But they had an outdoor back patio. And no other restaurants in town seemed to want any business.Service: We sat down and our server, Amanda Wright was pleasant and knowledgeable. She steered us toward the bottle of wine (Wednesday special) saying âitâs only $2 more than one glass.â Good advice. And she was understanding with our soy and nut allergies as she told me sheâd talk to the Chef about what I can and cannot eat.Food: we started with Mexiskins that are just what they sound like. Potato skins but with some hotness on top. Chef Ryan Davis offered to make them without frying in the vegetable oil so I could eat them. Delicious! And hot! The CFO then ordered the Wild Bill Burger - great chew on the bun, tasty burger and cooked as ordered! Publisher had the Southwestern Fiesta Salad with grilled chicken and olive oil/vinegar dressing sans the tortilla bowl as it was fried. Large portion, tasty salad.Venue: indoors was well lit and decorated but way too loud. Outdoor seating had plenty of fans to keep things cool, lights and good vibe.Thank you Chef Ryan and Amanda!

Established in 1969, Billy's Barn has long been a favorite of locals and travelers alike. We offer friendly service and delicious meals at an affordable price. Our philosophy is to welcome you to our restaurant with a genuine appreciation of your business
After many hours of driving we were in need of some good food! Billyâs popped up in a search so we gave it a whirl! Very reasonable, home cooked food. Seems like a locals hang out which is cool. We all got burgers and fries and one of us got fried spinach! That was new and different and best of all he LOVED it! Nice find on a road trip!!! Thank you for your kind review. We sincerely appreciate you stopping by!

We had a awful, unprofessional experience today. Whereas the food here is always good I would not recommend asking them to deliver if you donât have cash or if you have multiple orders/cards. We were told by the delivery driver that next time we should âplan ahead betterâ because Joe doesnât want to be running 6 cards at lunch time. To me this doesnât seem like good business practice if a small local business wants the business. If you donât want to do delivery for other businesses that only have the option to pay with credit cards then you may want to advertise that accordingly in order to avoid upsetting customers. Joe wonât have to worry about running anymore credit cards from us anymore as we will no longer be ordering lunch from there.

We go here after church on Sunday nights and also some during the week. It's a great, convenient place to go in Salem and very affordable. I have been going here since I was a child and I have great memories of sitting outside in the rocking chairs and eating ice cream and hanging out with family and friends.

Visited this location while travelling home from TN with family. We were looking for some breakfast since we didn't eat at the unclean hotel we stayed the night before. This again was a pleasant visit. my son again as always enjoyed the play area. The staff was fairly pleasant. there was one person that was kinda rude but it was busy but they were quick and efficient. The location was a little difficult to get to, but it was a good choice. Would recommend and would return if in area again.

Opened in 1980 as a 10 stool pub and has grown into a 330 seat restaurant with outdoor dining, indoor and outdoor bars. Famous for huge, great-tasting calzones. Wide range of menu items including steaks, salads, burgers, seafood, sandwiches, and pasta dis
We were pointed to this place by the hotel and were very pleased that we took the short drive over as we really enjoyed the experience. Parking was right next door so access was easy. Our server, Erin, was friendly and seemed to be keen that we enjoyed the visit. Her recomendation for a beer to start was good and a local brew was taken by me which was cool and tasty on a hot evening. Our order was taken quite quickly and we had been advised that things might take a little while as everything is cooked to order. It was not long however before our shared starter of wings arrived. These were meaty and tasty with just the right amount of heat. Our mains (steak for me a a huge calzoni that was ordered as a smaller plate) wre excellent. Nicely cooked and very tasty indeed. The place was busy and buzzing with a mix of families and college people which made for a friendly and plesant atmosphere. Overall a great experience and one that we would repeat if we pass throuygh the area again; highly recommended.Thank you so much for the nice 5 star review. Erin is one of best servers. I am glad you enjoyed your food and service. Hope you stop by again next time your travel through Salem.

This restaurant just opened in Salem, VA a month or two ago. It is wonderful!!! The best place to eat in this small town!
My husband and I planned an overnight trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Roanoke. Upon our departure, we ventured on to Salem to visit this charming little town. We stopped in to the Blue Apron Restaurant and Red Rooster Bar for lunch after reading about it online. The rave reviews were spot on. The restaurant is charming - every little detail does not go unnoticed - and comfortable. The food is creative and high quality. The staff is friendly and highly professional. I truly wished we had made the quick trip out of Roanoke for dinner the night before for dinner at the Blue Apron. We will not make that mistake again on our return to Roanoke - Blue Apron will be our restaurant of choice!
