Things to do in Port Isabel
This restaurant is new, but the owner also has another restaurant in Port Isabel, so he has experience. Food is very good mexican food - prices are good. Worth stopping and trying.
Call first to make sure they are open. Your chicken will always be fresh they never have any available when you arrive. Short wait, about 15 minutes. Unique Cajun side dishes such as jambalaya, red beans & rice and boudin. Rather expensive...two legs, one breast and small mashed potatoes. $10.63...no drink. Equal to Popeyes but 30 miles closer. Count your pieces of chicken before leaving to make sure they included everything.

The place is unique. Sports all over but in a nice way. They had live music, and people were dancing and it made a very cute atmosphere. Had a platter with "mexican" specialties and wasnt what had expected. Go for the burgers, all the way. They give the drinks in a big tar, so fun!

I have wanted to try this restaurant for a couple years, but this is first time we actually dined here. We arrived around 11:30am. There were 3 tables of customers when we came into the building. There are 3 sections of this restaurant. The upper dining room is located at the entrance of the restaurant with the hostess table and cash register. It has windows that let you see the water in the bay, with view over the lower dining room. The lower dining room has windows facing over the marina and with a nice view over the bay. The tables sit at an angle to the windows, so that everyone can view the water if desired. There is also a bar located between the upper level dining room and the lower dining room. The bar is nicely appointed with a long bar and stools, plus small 2 person tables around the perimeter of the room. The hostess greeted us as we entered and asked us to select a table in the upper dining room. I told her that I wanted to sit near the water. She handed me the menus, napkins and silverware and told me to seat myself. That was fairly crazy, but at the time there was only one table with 3 people in the upper dining room. I think she wanted some more customers. We were greeted by a very pleasant young woman who was taking orders from one of the two tables already seated in the lower dining room. She told us to select a table and took our orders after finishing up with the order she was taking when we came down the stairs. About that time, a group of 6 to 8 people arrived and were seated in the upper dining room. My husband asked our waitress what type of fish was in the fish basket. She told him pollock. We didn't ask if it was locally caught, but I think that it might have been (hoping so anyway. I didn't want the pollock, so I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries. My husband received the fish basket with three nice sized pieces of battered fried fish, a cup of coleslaw and french fries. The coleslaw was very creamy, but a little bland for my taste. (But I rarely find a coleslaw that I like.) The fish were OK, but a little on the "no taste" side. I'm not sure if that was due to the type of fish or to lack of seasoning in the batter. They were OK, but not memorable. My hamburger was 1/2 pound beef on a toasted bun. It was served with a fresh, crispy piece of lettuce, a slice of large tomato, a slice of purple onion and a slice of dill pickle, cheese and a mayonnaise sauce. It was good. The bacon was very crispy, almost burnt, but OK. (I did wonder if the bacon on my cheeseburger was left over from breakfast.) I couldn't taste the cheese, but I think it was cheddar. The burger was so big, I cut it in half and took it home with enough french fries to make a second meal. We had to wait a little bit for our food, which means to me that the chef and kitchen staff prepare and cook the food fresh. The food is plentiful and the for the price was about average for the lunch time meals served in Port Isabel and on South Padre Island. The fish basket with fries and coleslaw was $7.99. My bacon cheeseburger was $8.99 if I remember correctly. The restaurant is part of the Marchan White Sands Motel and Marina. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was clean and neat when we arrived. It is large so can accommodate large groups of people.

Our family was visiting South Padre Island over Memorial Day Weekend. Every restaurant open for breakfast was packed so we thought we would try Port Isabel to see what we might find. So glad we did!!!Incredible breakfast contodo, great omelets and pancakes too. Every in the family was happy with their choices and the service was courteous and prompt too. We will definitely be back when visiting South Padre!!!

Stopped in at Porky's for a quick lunch sandwich. Got the Beef Brisket (sliced) and chose the 'moist' rather than 'lean'. The service was very good and we got our stuff quickly. It came with a bag of Lay's chips, pickles, onion and a side of warm sauce. The flavor of the meat was average and the moist was still slightly dry to me. This is the only BBQ place anywhere in Port Isabel or near South Padre Island. I would still go back but there are much better places in the Hill Country than around the south end of Texas. Thanks for the feedback Monk1949. We look forward to your next visit for an opportunity to give you a better moist cut of our brisket. We feel our BBQ can compete with the best and appreciate another chance to sway you from just one region. We look forward to your next visit!

This is one of my favorite spots to eat in Port Isabel. Excellent hamburgers and great atmosphere. My favorite is the mushroom Swiss burger. Come in and have a great burger in this awesome little restaurant on the Lighthouse Square in Port Isabel.

Best seafood restaurant in port isabel Texas, owned by the Salazar family owners of original Dirty Al's on south padre island
I really wanted to like this place. It has a great view of the channel bridge, plus you can see boats come and go and of course... pelicans. The interior is nice as well. We came at a normal week-day lunchtime. The place was not crowded, but the wait for our food was very long. Our waiter was super nice, but some of our orders came back wrong and we had to ask for a lot of things that should have been anticipated. If we had predicted that the food would take so long, we would have ordered an appetizer So maybe some complimentary garlic bread would have been nice??? I'm not down on the island very often, but I'll probably pass on Pelican Station in the future. Sorry...thanks for your visit Melissa P , please accept our apologies for delivering a great service as you deserve,we are constantly doing our best in having good staff and good food, however bad things happen to good people , we hope to redeem our selves in your next visit to our restaurant and we hope you do give us another chance.

We are a family waterfront casual restaurant. We are a pirate themed style restaurant and bar on the water.
Great food, great prices. If you have big appetites for seafood this is the place for you (and us). Even the appetizer portions are huge. Very very reasonably priced. Great service, smiling faces ready to help or make suggestions. You definitely won't be disappointed here. Go to place for us everyone we come to South Padre. Try it.

Enjoying another Wonderful Birthday Celebration at Our Famous South Padre Island. I have always thought the freshest Gulf Coast Shrimp would be on the Island and was wrong. Joes Oyster Bar In Port Isabel is the freshest by far. My wife and I enjoyed Fresh Boiled Shrimp - OysterCocktail - Fresh Red Snapper Ceviche - and an entire Seared on the skillet Red Snapper with a Glass of Mascado. This is the place to come and enjoy a Great Lunch or Dinner we even saw our State Representative enjoying the food. Definitely a Two Thumbs Up
