The name says it all! Wonderful basic eats basically in a self service scenario and very nice portions. Smothered chicken dish was tender and the pot pie was a delicious creation. Mac and cheese is delish and salads were crisp and fresh. Very friendly attendants and food was delivered quickly to our table. Luzianne iced tea was fresh and delicious. This is a perfect place for something wonderful to eat and a great place to meet friends and family.

Country style restaurant with plenty of options for everyone. Burgers, Steaks, Seafood, Sandwiches, and an all you can eat soup and salad bar. Come in and get some of that true southern hospitality you've been hearing about.
Kids voted for this place and it looked great walking in. That said, our server clearly communicated with her eyes and actions that she would rather be anywhere else. The salad bar is all iceberg mix. Croutons were stale as could be. No blue cheese dressing but two vinagrettes that were oddly warm. I had the trout, which in this area is usually a can't miss, but the breading was all flour with no seasoning. I was looked at like I was from Neptune when I asked for vinegar. I get that it's not the big city. I wasn't looking for Ruth's Chris. That said, I spent time in this town in 1995 and got phenomenal trout as well as BBQ elsewhere. When one has to get up after 10 minutes and track a hostess down for condiments, it's not good. I hope the management gets it corrected, because the facility is awesome and has really great river-town ambiance.

My wife and I went to Murphyâs around 1:30pm on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. We wanted to sit outside with our dogs (dog friendly supposedly) and have a beer and some food. My wife barely got in the door and was abruptly told âitâs not open, itâs not open.â So we left. Dear UGA_guy_Athens_GAI received your Trip Advisor review and appreciate you letting us know about your experience. We try to accommodate our guests on the patio providing the weather forecast is suitable to dining. We are pet friendly and always encourage folks to bring their pets along. I'll certainly address the issue with our hostess and the tone she uses with our customers. I hope you come back and give us a try.Thank you. James Reaux

Visited there with some folks that are from here...we all enjoyed our food....then we went back by ourselves....and we noticed that the portions were significantly less! We experienced this before while visiting in the Bahamas ,,,,different portions for the out of towners..... food was good,,,nothing special...but based on the discrimination.....won't be back!

A real wood fired Southern BBQ Joint!
The wait staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The food is fantastic: The ribs are melt-in-your-mouth delicious and fall off the bone. The beef brisket is tender and flavorful. The pulled pork is always great - can't go wrong there. The chicken can sometimes be dry, so get there early in the day for that.Thank you, Jana! We strive to have EVERY BBQ experience with us be a delicious, tender, and flavorful. We are quite appreciative that you took a moment to let us know that your experience was a positive one, from all aspects. We look forward to having the privilege of serving you again soon.

We've been here multiple times and this was our second time here for an anniversary dinner. Really can't say enough good about bistro 29. My wife had the Diver scallops which were excellent and I had for the first time ever,Beef Wellington, which was the special that night. The wait staff is always very good and really never had any issue with them the times that we've been there. Wayne and Eugene seem to have it all going on there at Bistro 29. God willing will be back there for another anniversary dinner.

A quaint new England chowderhouse serving bisques, chowders, lobster rolls and a variety of sandwiches and salads.
I had heard great things about this restaurant and couldnât wait to try it. Sadly it didnât live up to the reviews. We had scallops and crab cake. The scallops were cooked fine but just didnât have any flavor. The crab cake was big and full of crab but didnât taste good. The French fries were good.

Wonderful little place with delicious sandwiches, and soup. The chicken pablano soup was creamy with just the right amount of heat, perfect for a fall day. I had the Bulldog (pastrami and corned beef). Hit the spot. Will be back if in the area again.
