Over the years, my wife and I have become acquainted with Bob Evans restaurants, what with 600 locations in 24 states, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and upper Southern states. You can always rely on a hearty breakfast and friendly service. Located at 4424 Fairfax Drive in Mount Vernon, Illinois, just off I-57, Bob Evans is open from 6 to 9 daily. "Breakfast is Everything" is its motto and we won't argue. That's what we're here for, before leaving for the last leg of our trip home to Chicago. The menu has changed a bit since our last stop at a Bob Evans location. No matter, it's always fresh and delicious and filling. My wife opted for her personal breakfast favorite, Belgian waffles with butter and syrup topped with powdered sugar with fresh strawberries and three sausage links. I chose Bob Evans' version of traditional Eggs Benedict, a ham biscuit Benedict, a freshly baked biscuit split and topped with hickory smoked ham, two poached eggs, green onions and hollandaise sauce. With three sausage links and hash browns. And two fresh buttermilk biscuits with gravy for the two of us. Everything you'd expect from Bob Evans in the morning.

While the food was pretty much exactly what you'd expect for typical bar fare deserving of an average rating, I have given a very good rating based on the special service we received. We stayed at a nearby motel and walked to the restaurant. Our original server had to leave briefly for a family emergency, but she was relieved by the manager, Nick, who was great. He took over in tandem with another waitress who also helped fill in. The fries and beer were good, the salad OK and the large combo plate of nachos, wings, onion rings, etc. pretty good. But I can't remember ever getting such wonderful service---we even received free desserts since there was initially a slight delay due to the first server's emergency. NICK managed to save the day with his outstanding service.

Running a little a head of schedule so we decided on eating here. Hostess told us four times that she would seat us once she cleaned a table. Guess it took several trips to get it cleaned. Walking to be seated there were only 6 to 7 tables waiting to be cleaned. Wife asked for no guacamole on her sandwich, guess what came with it on it. Waitress was always checking on us. Meals came out quickly but restaurant just did not seem clean. Just as many tables needing cleaned as we were leaving as when we entered.

Nver came back to see how food was.6. Only smile from server was a written one on bill...which was left with no pen so i could sign to room charge.Obvious little training.

When it comes to a clean restaurant Bugsy's is the bee's knees and the cats pajamas. You could probably eat of the floor. The color scheme and memorabilia on the inside is great on the visual senses. Two of the best Hot dogs I've ever had. Thank you Bugsy's for the wonderful food and dinig experience

This is an awesome breakfast place (though they have lunch items and they looked good too). Nice sized menu with focus on waffles and omelets but they have pancakes and many lunch selections. The food was better and $2-4 cheaper than the standard chain diner. Nice clean smallish restaurant. Busy place but servers helped each other and food was as fast (and hot). If I had to do it again, I would have picked bacon instead of sausage (round, hard, spicy) but it was a lot of food for little price.

Mount Vernon, IL had been on a boil water restriction due to a leak . Most businesses were not serving food nor drinks on this busy Memorial Day weekend. However, Jeffrey, the shift leader at Cracker Barrel had the right attitude-âWe will do what we have to do to make this workâ. Water was available, the dining room was full, and customers were happy. I believe it was because of the leadership and attitude of this young man. He should be commended for his work ethic, which is rare in this day in age.The food was of course very good for a Cracker Barrel, but Jeffrey made it a great experience. Kudos to him!

My husband and I truly enjoyed the finger-licking delicious ribs and chicken we opted for at this well located eating establishment. The tea was great as was the ice cream sundae. To top it off our server Lauren was magnificent. She was friendly and attentive. Overall this was a wonderful eating experience for both of us.

Not a fine dining experience but friendly waitress. Got our drinks quickly which is always nice. I had a ribeye special which was very tasty. My wife had BBQ ribs which she also really liked. A lot of locals in this place which I always think is a good thing.

12 ox ribeye. steak was delicious. Salad could have had some kind od dressing on it!.. Bread of some kind would make the meal complete also.Our waiter was more like a Matr"e D than a waiter. On the ball for 20 people almost completely by himself.. Remembered my drink refill and it was different than others. I was impressed.. very personal, and yet professional.., friendly and gets the job done...We would be perfect on a cruise line!!!.
