Find out what American restaurants to try in Montevideo. Montevideo, a port city and the capital of Uruguay, is a perfect destination for travelers looking for a relaxing stroll past colonial era buildings and along beautiful beaches. The Ciudadela Gateway, the only remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the entire city, now serves as the entrance to Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's oldest neighborhood. Home to churches, museums, and theaters, at night the area comes alive with nightclubs playing Tango and Candombe music for crowds of dancers.

Rudy recreates the typical American Burger. The combination of our tasty Uruguayan meat, soft bread with good structure, American cheddar, and fresh vegetables results in a unique Burger worth trying.
Ok, these guys do not mess around... they do one thing and one thing only, burgers, and they do it well!!Meat is freshly minced on a daily basis in a cold chamber, bread is home made, service is great, but just the quality of the meat in and the taste of the burgers in general... WOW!Probably the best burger I've had so far in South America!!

Good pizza, quesadillas (which are made more like large empanadas), breakfast, and of course drinks at the bar. Reasonably priced, friendly service. It was a convenient restaurant for us to visit. If it's convenient for you too, it's a decent option. Dear Candace0nc, thank you very much for your comments, we are glad you enjoyed your visit to our bar and hope you come back soon. Regards from Montevideo!

We'd wanted to try this out for some time and were pleasantly surprised to find a very attractive space at the back of this restaurant attached to the Dazzler hotel. Outside in the sun, it seemed like we'd found a great place to eat at first, until we ordered the food. My wife wanted a dish without onions but was told that was not possible. It seems everything is pre-prepared rather than made to order. The prawns we ordered were breaded and on ticks and looked as if they'd been frozen. The chicken my wife ordered tasted burnt. My steak was fresh, but nothing special. It seemed to be just a disappointing meal until the bill arrived. The price was a lot more than we expected. The reason why? They had added a 190 pesos (USD 7) per person cover charge. It's very difficult to understand how they can justify this - they served us a mini loaf of bread with the meal, but this was dry and tasteless. The waiters shuffled around and were pleasant enough, but weren't that attentive. What a waste of money! There are dozens of great restaurants in the area that will serve you much better food at lower prices. Avoid Dakota at all costs unless you like being ripped off.

Hard Rock Cafe is a global phenomenon with 185 cafes that are visited by nearly 80 million guests each year. The first Hard Rock Cafe opened on June 14, 1971, in London, England, and from there the brand has expanded to major cities and exotic locations a
The worst restaurant I've ever visited in South America, and the worst Hard Rock Cafe I've visited anywhere in the world. AVOID!I went to this restaurant on Sunday evening at 8pm, a few weeks after the restaurant opened. PositiveThe decor of the restaurant is very nice, the staff are polite and the restaurant had a "nice" number of people in- enough people for atmosphere, but it wasn't overly-busy.NegativeI ordered the chicken wings (440 pesos Uy)- which were not the crispy, crunchy and wings pictured in the menu. They looked undercooked (6 minutes in an industrial oven?) and some spicy-but-bland sauce poured over them. I took my chances and ate them, not complaining.I ordered the Hickory-smoked ribs (1100 pesos) for my main- which I was forced to send back to the kitchen. They weren't the tender, falling-off-the-bone juicy ribs pictured... they were tough as old boots and there was no BBQ sauce as they promised. The restaurant manager and waitress were very apologetic, explaining that they are receiving a lot of complaints about the quality of the food and I wasn't charged for the ribs (that I didn't eat)- although I was charged in full for the awful wings and all my drinks. My drinks were also expenive, a 300ml glass of IPA cost 181 pesos, and a Jack Daniels and coke cost 319 pesos.A horrible experience. I understand the restaurant is new, and the bar looks good- but it is not ready to sell food. AVOID! Hello jamie19812018. Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm sorry for your bad experience. Regards.
