Crowned as the" Best Bar in New Jersey" . Verve Continues the tradition of the Court House Cafe circa 1901, Verve is your landmark 23 year bistro of excellence. Situated in the heart of downtown Somerville, NJ, Verve serves the best in French bistro fare
The restaurant was full, so the service wasn't as attentive as I had expected, and the tables were close enough together that the conversations from adjacent tables was annoying. I noticed that none of the servers were smiling and I found that odd.I enjoyed my three appetizers and they were so filling that I didn't have room for dessert, other than a delicious glass of Warrior Port.I recommend the poached pear salad (I ordered the dressing on the side), the tuna tartare and the gnocchi (with brussel sprouts, feta and squash or pumpkin puree.)

I am always up for eating in a diner, so I stopped in for lunch while my son was attending a campus event at Rutgers. Very friendly atmosphere and staff, and many families in the restaurant. I grabbed a stool at the counter and was helped immediately and the service was great. I ordered the cajun turkey burger with fries and a cup of Manhattan chowder. The chowder was good and chunky with great flavor but didn't see any clams. The fries were awesome, crispy exterior and fluffy inside. The burger was just OK, not much spice at all and certainly not spicy. I think I would like to try some of the other specialty items that I saw go by that looked really good. Didn't have room for desert, but they all looked good and are homemade.

Awesome freaking sandwiches! Best I've ever had outside of New York. Huge, their half a sandwich is equal to a large in 98% of the country. Quality ingredients and generous portions. Pizza was passable, cheese "fries" were way better than they looked. Bacon cheeseburger was okay according to my daughter. Oh, ordered it by Grubhub, arrived within 25 mins. Not 70 they predicted.

This is an average diner by NJ standards. My server was great. The food was just like home cooked. Not a bit like the highly processed food at chains.I ordered turkey dinner. The stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggie were very good. The turkey was not heavily salted and seemed authentic. Even down to to the white meat sometimes being a bit dry and inconsistent. That is, processed meat comes out very consistent, preformed, and pressed, flavor enhanced, fat and water added. You know from your home turkey that is not how it looks or tastes. And yes, I did need a bit more gravy. But that has happened sometimes when I make turkey also. I would want to tweak the cooking time to make the turkey more moist. But I'd still rather have this than the alternative garbage sold elsewhere.Final note, some people have only know heavily processed, high sodium food. That is sad to say, because that is why some may not like the way it is here. I suggest give it a shot. You can always dump a ton of salt on it :-)

I ordered brioche French toast hoping for an eggy breakfast delight. Unfortunately I was served was two pieces of thickly sliced white bread which had an may have had virtually no egg soaked in it. OK so it was a poor choice. When I paid I mentioned my disappointment to the manager who really didn't seem to care. This is not the attitude I would expect and a good reason not to return .Perhaps other items on the menu are better choices but I won't return to find out

The menu had so many tempting items. I went with the Chicken Parmesan dinner. My wife had a Mushroom and Swiss burger. Both were wonderful. The burger was very large and my wife enjoyed it and took home half. My Chicken Parmesan on linguine with homemade marinara was amazing. The chicken so tender and plentiful. Service was great and personable, despite the restaurant being very busy. A very enjoyable dinner. Weâll be back for sure.

A very traditional neighborhood restaurant. It has been here a long time but is well maintained, almost like stepping back in time. The food was good and the staff friendly. We wanted a local place and this was perfect

We have been to uproot a few times, however, this past week end was disappointing. Service was so so. And the portions were on the small side. Now, I wasn't expecting your typical NJ Italian Restaurant portion, but $32 for 4 small scallops was on the small side. Even my wife who enjoys smaller entree's commented on how little there was. Also, the salmon entree was on the small side as well. This combined with the so so service lead to a disappointing visit.

Neighborhood New American Eatery with locations in Bridgewater, Gillette and now Flemington (September 2018) is central New Jerseyâs favorite family restaurant group, having served millions of loyal guests since 1863. Offering quality meals and beverages
Thank you Chimney Rock Inn for having many vegan options. It always amazes me that some restaurants can successfully manage to have several vegan options, but most can't even offer one! Although I grew up in Bridgewater this was my first visit, but it won't be the last. I ordered a bowl of veg chili and the strawberry quinoa salad. Both were delicious. The chili portion could have been a little bigger, while the chip portion surrounding the bowl could have been smaller. Red sangria was just ok, next time I'll stick to wine.Husband had the salmon which came with a salad. Apple brown betty a la mode for dessert. The food was good, not outstanding, but the choices for a vegan diner coming with a non-vegan diner was the high point for us. And nice to dine outside too.
