Reviews on American food in Messini, Peloponnese, Greece. Messini (Greek: Μεσσήνη) is a municipal unit (dimotiki enotita) and seat (edra) of the municipality (dimos) of Messini within the regional unit (perifereiaki enotita) of Messenia in the region (perifereia) of Peloponnese, one of 13 regions into which Greece has been divided. Before 2011 the same hierarchy prevailed, according to Law 2539 of 1997, the Kapodistrias Plan, except that Messenia was a nomos and the Municipal unit was a locality (topiko diamerisma). The dimos existed under both laws, but not with the same constituents.
Things to do in Messini
Visited this little place twice while staying at the Neilson Messini Beach Resort in June 2016, once for lunch and one in the evening. Now although Mr Owner speaks very little English Mrs Owner is very fluent and we had some interesting talks. It was also pleasant getting slightly away from the nearest Bar/Cafes so more authentic. The food is really inexpensive but good quality and I especially liked the bacon and chicken kebabs (Souvlaki) and the "murder" wine.Mrs Owner is very helpful and when I asked for a lot of tobacco she took my order and a couple of days latter it was ready for collection!!

They were freshly made. They were delicious!!If someday I am back to Kalamata, I will come back there definitely!

Traditional Loukoumades(donuts), waffles, ice cream, coffee, special sweets, all with the best ingredients and love, made to put a big smile on your face! Handmade at its best!
Generally trapped in Kalamataâs winter as smokers prevail indoors despite the law we found a FB page Smoke Free Entertainment in Kalamata. On their list was Mamaâs Sweet Shop. 4 of us went for a birthday celebration. Great service, quaint, cozy warm and comfortable and out of control great sweets and coffees. Highly recommended. My first enjoyable time out in a very long time. My favorite was the chocolate pie. Cheesecake, which is generally not good in Greece by American standards was light and decadent. Everything is made there. Satisfied and happy. Definitely going back.
