I was in Rutland teaching a workshop and stopped at The Yellow Deli during the lunch break. Host was friendly and showed me a table and the server was also very friendly and quickly took my order. I was limited on time and will say the service was top notch and timely. Food was great. Turkey sandwich and chips and root beer on tap. The restaurant itself is very unique. Lots of wood, with tables tucked into little corners, felt kind of like I was having lunch at Bilbo Baggins' house. Food itself was great and prices were very reasonable. If you're in town, you could do a lot worse for lunch. Would definitely stop again if I were ever in the area.

during our long weekend in Vermont one of my high school classmates contacted me on Facebook and wanted to get together for a meal while we were traveling up North. As he was in Bennington and we were staying in Burlington, we opted for a location somewhere in the middle. That location turned out to be Rutland. In looking through Trip Advisor it turned out that the Hopân Moose was recommended, so we decided to go there. It is a standard craft beer location with the pub-style food that goes along with that. We ordered a couple of craft beers, and white wine for my wife, then shared a pizza and some wings. One highlight on the menu was poutine, which is French fries with gravy and cheese curds . It may not sound delicious but it is quite good and a Canadian staple. The meal was fine, the beer was good, and the staff was quite friendly. Recommended.

What a great room for a reunion of friends and celebrating a big (80th) Birthday. South side is a great room, very sophisticated - once seated, youâd be hard pressed to remember youâre in Rutland, VT - could he in any cosmopolitan locale. Debbie was our server, spot on and very attentive - steaks for many of us, and a spectacular beet and Barrettâs salad, with a great wine and dessert. One of our party has celiac and, when our party had a birthday cake for desert, Debbie and the kitchen made sure there was a creme brûlée for our friend - just because everyone needs dessert. Thanks to Wally and the whole staff at Southside!

overall very decent, with a few great Asian inspired dishes and daily specials. Nice ait staff and good cocktails. Just wish I would not feel this cramped. I would frequent this place much more often if the space was nicer and roomier, I always feel a bit claustrophobic, too bad as one of the best of Rutland.

Best place for breakfast! We had the Reuben Omelet and the Mexican scramble which were both very tasty. Endless coffee and great service! The menu offers lots of choices both for breakfast and lunch. It is a local favorite and usually busy but never have to wait too long because of ample seating

Wasn't expecting such an adventurous upscale place in such a small town and walked in skeptical due to the vacant atmosphere outside and corn stalk decor but our server was charming and warm and the food was super tasty with huge portions which made the husband happy. I had coconut crusted cod, he had a braised pork, started with fondue. The fondue was obsession worthy.

We stop here on every visit to Vermont. Feels like you're eating in a sugar shack...and you are! Food is excellent-have only had breakfast here. We always stock up on some maple syrup while we're here too. Has a cute store in the bottom floor to get some souvenirs. Get here early! If you wait until later, you will be waiting in the line out the door.
