We decided to eat here as it was right next to our hotel for the night. It was pretty slow and service was good. They let us take our time and enjoy the view from the outdoor seating. The food was fine. It came out almost too quick from time of ordering which leads me to wonder if it was prepped and then just warmed up as opposed to cooked to order. We got the artichoke dip (tons of artichoke), chicken and sandwich. We enjoyed our time here and may come again the next time we float the river.

The grounds and cabins all need a little TLC, there is chipping paint in my cabin and it had a tiny double bed that would not accommodate myself and my spouse that cancelled last minute. No way could two people above 5ft be comfortable. I had dead bugs on my bathroom shower floor circling the floor drain. The toilet stood about 2.5ft from the wall nearly in the shower stall. Bathroom was so tiny there was no need for the shower curtain. There was a 5 inch step down to a concrete floor with the chipping paint. The bathroom walls also had large areas of chipping paint. The sink looked to be the original sink from when the cabin was used for railroaders. I couldn't get much hot water because the spout was snug against the porcelain. Cold water no problem. Dirty coffee pot and dusty cups. Cleaning staff did not come next day to tidy or vaccum all the debri tracked in from outside each cabin. It was a big dust bowel unless you are standing in the courtyard with the 24 hour sprinklers they leave running. A sprinkler was left on outside their cabin for 36 hours, he slipped in the mud going back in his cabin because staff had the water running thru the mud which was the front entry to the cabin. We rented a total of 4 cabins, the insides of most of my friends cabins were a bit nicer, they more modern bathrooms and chipping paint. The beds in one friends was two doubles allowing her and her spouse to each have a bed. I paid the same price for a tiny double bed that was very short. With a cleaner bathroom, I would not have griped A can of paint and elbow grease would take care of it. I enjoyed the rusticness of the cabin and the area. The management was very laid back which is nice. Even though I paid the same as my friends for a less than clean experience I'd still come back, but I'd get a different cabin. Not going to say which one it was. Other downside was there was no inbetween room cleaning, we stayed two nights, and I was not given clean towels the next day. The towels were nice and bleached. I wished they would have vacuumed debri that easily gathers coming from outside cabin. With all of that said, I would still will go back but request a different cabin. I'd also make my staff a little more friendly, the restaurant waitress was a little curt at times. She didn't really have a welcoming attitude, kind of like she was doing you the favor.
Once the owner relaxed about interior photography, everything went splendidly. I had biscuits and gravy and my wife had a pancake. Then I began taking portraits of the regal owner who changed into clean white garments for her picture. After that, we bought two tee shirts, one of which told us not to move to Oregon! Outside rests a political sign for a local who proclaims, "Make Oregon Great Again." Aside from my private associations with an orange-haired creep, I thought that Oregon was already great and surely did not need Mr. Carpenter's talents. Shameless plagiarism!

This tavern was also a restaurant, so if you are uncomfortable sitting in a bar and watching people drink and get loud, this is not the place for you. We hurried our meal and left. Their calamari was perfect. I think all Taverns and Pubs know how to feed you. Thier appetizers are size of meals.

River view dining on the Lower Deschutes River in Maupin, Oregon! Enjoy great food, the most incredible riverside view in Central Oregon, outdoor patio, full-service bar and a firepit in the courtyard.
I enjoyed our meal here the best. Beautiful setting outside too. The waitress recommended the chicken Marsala and it was excellent and my family loved the burgers. The beef stroganoff was ok - a little watery. What we didn't love was the service. It was incredibly slow and we almost left because our meal took so long to get to us. The waitress was very nice, but I couldn't believe how slow everything took - drinks, refills, food.Thank you for your feedback. I'm happy you enjoyed the Chicken Marsala and burgers. It's unfortunate your food took too long to get to you, but thank you for sticking around. Your experience has been forwarded to the appropriate staff members. We hope you stop in the next time you visit Maupin.Thank you again for taking time to write a review.
