The marinated ribeye or sirloin is fantastic. Ask for extra seasoning on it. Makes it really scrumptious. It's a bar atmosphere. The baked potato bar/salad bar is just okay. But the steaks more than make up for that. Best steaks in town!

Airport Steakhouse Provides Breakfast, Lunch, And Dinner to Coles County and the Surrounding Areas.
Went to eat at airport after several years. The restaurant hadn't changed much and the food was as good as I recalled. Had the Elephant ear pork tenderloin and fried mushrooms. Both were really good. Actually had to much to eat and took some home.

We were in Mattoon for quick vacation ( our son was in Mama Mia at Sullivan, IL). We searched Yelp and decided to give Hubbart's a try. Our group of 4 ordered a variety for our breakfast. My wife ordered her usual boring 1 egg scrambled and crispy bacon with raisin toast. I ordered the Walleye sandwich without bread and a side of pickled beets. The walleye was lightly breaded and cooked to a golden tan color, I loved this meal! Our youngest son ordered omelet with avocado, onions, mushrooms, and corned beef hash in it. It looked awesome and it tasted awesome! He was super happy they had GF bread. Our other son ordered the California Sunrise sandwich, which was egg, avocado, bacon on a croissant , he loved it! Our waitress was super nice, funny and kept our drinks filled! You know it's a great place when the whole family wants to go there again. 3 people ordered the same meals, but I wanted to try something new. I had read a review that their coconut cream pie was to die for, so I asked our waitress to please bring me a slice BEFORE she brought me my 2 scrambled eggs and corn mush. This pie was delightful, I could have eaten another slice ! The corn mush was 5 circular patties, and was very tasty. Tab each day was about $33 before gratuity, a great deal for awesome food! Enjoy! Thank you bunches for this awesome review! We are so happy you had a great experience! Breakfast and Coconut cream pie sounds like a great combination! :) We hope you come back to see us soon!!!

Diner has expanded with new owners. Good food seems to have followed through. Enjoyed the bacon, eggs, and cheese served on a grilled glazed donut. Also saw green eggs and ham, mashed potato balls, spinach and pesto that will have to come back and try. Has good standbys such as horseshoes and walleye, as well as usual breakfast and luncheon dishes, salads, sandwiches, Definitely worth a stop, and we have since 2007, whenever we are in the area.

Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company's name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word "steak" stood for
Like many stores I have experienced in the S&S chain, this one has the standard menu, the standard level of service (usually slow) and the standard ambiance. My chili mac tasted the same as my first one 60 years ago, and that's a good thing. Milkshakes also top-notch. Steakburgers as good as advertised. All in all not a bad experience.

We couldn't wait to eat here after reading all the rave reviews. But it was a big disappointment. We got there at 7 pm on a Weds and it was pretty crowded with regular customers (they seemed to all know each other). My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich which he said was pretty good. I ordered the shrimp basket which was okay but not great. It took about 10 minutes for our server to find the cocktail sauce. We had also ordered some plain wings for an appetizer and they definitely were terrible. Someone must have ignored or not heard the timer on the deep fryer because they were so dried out there wasn't much meat to eat. There were a lot of TVs in the bar (8 or more) but every one was on the same channel. Since we appeared to be the only strangers we didn't feel comfortable asking to have one on a different channel - which we wouldn't have been able to hear anyway. Definitely will not be going back if we're ever in this area again.

Not a very diverse menu... burgers, apps, some steaks , etcFull bar with several taps and top shelf liquor Was recommended to try to buffalo wrap. Note the lunch portion shows 2 the dinner portion has 4. The pic on the menu makes these look fairly small... wrong. The dinner portion. Is actually 4 full size wraps. Way too much food for 1 personService was ok. Our server seemed to be trying to eat her dinner while taking care or tables It wasnât bad, it wasnât great.

My husband and I stopped here on a long drive for lunch. Standard Cracker Barrel, so few surprises. Daily specials. Free parking. We were seated promptly, although the parking lot seemed very full, very little wait. Our server was new and checked w us frequently to see if we needed anything. Good service. We had salad and a sandwich, both good. We were given sodas to go which was a nice touch.

Years ago ate here a lot, then changes in manager and menu and we drifted away. Back last evening for a pleasant surprise. This is not haute cuisine, just a good meal in the Coles County food desert, which is dominated by fast food and burger and beer joints focused on the EIU and Lakeland College students. The menu is limited, but there is a hint of experimentation, especially in some of the sides. The side salad was nice and large and ,wonder of wonders, fresh lettuce and vegies, not the browning, wilted whatever that is so often served in many places. The main dishes were comprised of more than adequate servings, and with some thought given to a judicious use of seasoning. Overall a pleasant meal, which will bring us back again, -- If you havenât been here for a while give it a try.Thank you so much for your kind words. It is a great review and we appreciate your time and consideration. We have been at the Alamo since 1994 and have gone through many changes. We're very happy that you came back and we look forward to many more visits!
