I saw the diner on television and heard that it was rated one of the best diners in New Jersey. I ordered a waffle, sausage links and scrambled eggs with cheese. The food came hot and quick. It looked wonderful. The sausage links had that snap I like. The waffle was a Belgian waffle. It was light but no seasoning. It needed a lot of syrup. I do not knot know if this is my misyake, when I order scrambled eggs with cheese I should not have to say, "scramble the cheese into the eggs." I think it is lazy to put the cheese on top. Plus I found a part of the shell. The staff was very nice. I will try it again but that diner in Harrison is still the best in my eyes and I wanted the best to be in my neighborhood.

Took a friend from out of town there for a fast dinner. The service was great Sal was our server and on the ball, since it was very busy there. I have eaten there before but was disappointed in the bacon cheeseburger I ordered. I asked for medium cooked it came out very well done no little pink inside. I did not say anything because they were busy. Maybe next time ask for medium rare it may come out medium. Other wise nice place and your server Sal is a great server works hard

Just left the MJâs on 34 in Matawan. Was having dinner with my family and the waiter walked by and dropped a whole tray or food and dishes on my daughter. My daughter was traumatized and had to leave. All the manager did was say sorry and took 30 dollars off the bill. How about treating us for a horrible experience! Shame on you! I will never ever eat here again!!!!!!

Great staff, food and pricing. No reservations. You won't be rushed. Start with hot garlic & butter flavored buns, salad and drinks of your choice. Then indulge in an endless rib feast. Add chicken or other choices to your rib dinner and have a ball.

We invited our friends and father-in-law to dinner. The atmosphere is old school but very pleasant. Our waitress was prompt to take our order for drinks and appetizers. The seafood rolls were simply outstanding. Just enough heat to complement the avocado and spices. The main dishes including the seafood in tomato over linguini was so delicious. My wife ordered the chorizo and bean dish was great except for the stale chips. Other great dishes included red snapper and stuffed flounder. The desserts were great as well. We ordered the cheese cake and rice pudding. All in all, it was a great evening to enjoy a meal with family and friends.
Your hidden gem for standard diner classics and Greek Food! Serving the Matawan, NJ area for over 15 years!
Had a really nice dinner with my husband at Evan's! Joanna took care of us and we felt like we were part of the family. My Greek salad with London broil on top was delicious. My husband ordered a gyro wrap and he really enjoyed it too. I will definitely be back as the location is very easy to get to and it's so close to the entrance of the GS Parkway and even the Matawan Train Station where I commute. It looks like they also have a big take out biz so that could come in handy too. Only negative was the parking. Not many spots and backing out onto a main road is a little time-consuming and you have to be very careful exiting.

Typical Jersey diner. They have a four page breakfast menu. They also serve alcohol. The waitress service was good received several coffee refills without asking. But the kitchen service was a little slow, took a while for breakfast to be served once ordered. Had the poor boy omelet. It was OK, but not great. The omelet has the potatoes as part of the omelet, not as a side.

So each visit is exciting. The seating is always cozy. The byob option really appeals to all here. Food is diverse but appropriate seasonally & otherwise. Have had nothing but excellent meals.. Try the Creole selection. Bam!!

3.5 stars but I'm rounding up. Maloney's is a nice little local pub with a tremendous selection on tap. Me and my husband came with a group of friends. Our waiter joined together a few of the wobbly bar top tables for us in the front of the restaurant. My husband ordered the steak which was surprisingly really good. The steak was cooked to perfection and really tasty. I ordered the black and blue salad (salad with blackened chicken and blue cheese) which was also really delicious. Both of our dishes were huge! Service was excellent and very friendly. The space is large and casual. Street parking is fairly easy to find. I did feel prices were a tad high (especially for the beers) but I still wouldn't hesitate to return.
