The Walnut Kitchen

I rarely write one-star reviews but I must this time! If you don't want to read my review I suggest you carefully study their on-line menu and read the one-star and two-star reviews. At least you will know what might await you. If you don't like taking chances, dine at the Foothills Milling Company down the street instead. We (a couple) reserved a "Dining Room" table on-line for our Thursday dinner. We were not seated in the "Lounge" or "Patio" so I guess we were in the "Dining Room" . . . but it was actually in the same room as the kitchen area . . . very noisy, with a constant parade of wait staff walking back and forth very close to our table. In addition to the items mentioned in my title to this review, let me add: food plates not heated; Twice-baked Potato very dry and cool inside; only one dessert choice (some kind of ice cream sandwich concoction); companion's sirloin was tough, ordered medium rare but came clearly medium at best; we were never offered coffee/tea at the end of the meal. The 5 or so entrees on the menu were also better described as "concoctions", trying to offer a fancy-sounding description, but sometimes the mixtures made no sense at all. They include sauces and even gravy as accompaniments. I was encouraged by the waiter to take the red-pepper sprinkles that came with my salmon to add a gentle kick. Then I figured it out when I tasted my companion's steak with caramelized onions on top. Toppings and gravy can hide the fact that the meat itself is tasteless. Sorry, I'm old school and would never put gravy on top of an expensive steak! Good meat and fish should speak for themselves. Back to the reviews. Only about half rave about the place. The one-star and most two-star reviews are consistently blistering. Save your money and dine elsewhere. You won't see us at the Walnut Kitchen again.

I have never had a bad meal at Subs and Such. They offer a variety of sandwiches to choose from. My favorite is the smoked turkey and smoked cheddar on dark (heated). You order at the counter then they call your number. The order takers are very efficient but there is often a long line. I always place my order by phone 15 mins before I arrive so my order is usually ready when I arrive and I usually get my order to go.

I rarely review things or places, but this deserves it. The people at Becky's, both the staff but also the patrons, are wonderful. We could not have felt more welcome, and when someone in the restaurant needed help due to a fall, everyone jumped in to assist and support. The food was remarkable. The Ross burger is next level, as is the monster. My daughter loved her grilled cheese, and we had a sampling of many deserts, all of which were terrific. This is the kind of place that anyone can come to, get a great meal, and feel like they are part of the community even if they live miles and miles away! Just a top notch joint

Barley's Taproom

A few minutes after being seated, another group was seated near us. Their server was on the ball. They were greeted, had ordered drinks, and were given menus. Our server “Storm” must have been more concerned over her facial piercings and green hair because it took her a bit longer to do that for us. In general, to say she lacked energy/enthusiasm would be kind at best. Eventually we did order. One of our parties meal was ready before our pizzas and was placed under a heat lamp; no concern for the coleslaw though. After it sat their for several minutes, w no regard for it from “Storm” mind you, we expressed to her that it been sitting there. Once again, not a lot to offer form her. The manger got involved and actually attempted to defend his server’s lack of attention. No need to go in. The food itself was actually pretty good, but the service was appalling.

Not being from the area I was so happy to find this restaurant. The bartenders were very friendly and the 1/2 pound medium cooked cheeseburger with fries and 2 beers was all that I needed. The prices were also reasonable. After looking at homes in the area all day this restaurant must of had a magnet cause it dragged me right in :-) Thanks, I will be back.

Dined with 3 others on a Fri night. The place is urban loft style motif with calming Motown/Stax music playing. We had an experienced server and a trainee, Service was on point and friendly. Orders were pot roast and Boursin mashed potatoes, orange siracha salmon, grilled chicken with red pepper cream sauce, and grilled chicken and goat cheese flat bread all served with choice of soup or salad. I chose the house, it was amazing, not the usual offering, kale, bacon and other goodies. All entrees were delicious! We were too full for dessert this visit. Adding this place as favorite.

Hot Rods 50's Diner

I have brought everyone who has ever visited me here in East Tennessee. I have been here to many times to count. This last time I was a bit disappointed. My daughter came and I brought her here for the first time. Our waitress was slow and it took forever to get drinks. We were sat in the back and I dont think she noticed or was told. I ordered the Hog and it came way overcooked almost burnt. My daughter ordered fish and shrimp. The fish was soggy and under cooked. My daughter ate a small piece but it was yuk. By the time the waitress returned to check on us we had decided to go ahead and eat our dinners, all but the fish. Once we were contacted again the fish was taken and removed from our bill it was far to late to reorder it. I get places have bad nights, but it would appear the cooks in the back were not paying attention and the waitress, at least ours, was not paying attention. I will go back here, for sure, I have had many great experiences. But I am putting this one up, so maybe the owners can invite their friends in some night, to secret shop the place. Spend a little time with those cooks if needed your food is what is selling your restaurant. The decor is cool the video loops are cool but its your food that brings us back.We appreciate your feedback and have shared it with our management. We also tried to message you back, and if you don’t mind would love to communicate with you there so that we can get a few more details. This will allow us to pin point which staff members will need some additional training. Thank you so much!
