when I drove up in the parking lot all the employees were outside smoking nobody was inside to see if the customers inside needed anything or not I and my husband stood 10 minutes before anyone took our order .The parking lot had alot of litter in it .The hotdogs had been there a while ,
Some friends took us to After 5's for dinner. The staff was friendly and the wait for food was reasonable. For the most part, the food was exactly what you would expect from a bar. The wings and shrimp from the appetizer menu were pretty good, but the meal we ordered (pork loin) was a little dry and ordinary. They did have a few good beers on tap and a couple of wine selections. The atmosphere was casual and relaxing.

Every now and then, as I travel on the road, you find a treasure. This restaurant is a real treasure. I will definitely come back anytime I'm in the area. I was seated very quickly, even though there was a line, we had an exceptional waitress. They was a variety of choices from menu items, to a hot bar buffet, or a cold salad bar. I ordered from the menu. The salt-and-pepper catfish was tremendous, the salad bar was fully stocked and very fresh. All of the sides are excellent I absolutely had nothing that was bad. Check this place out.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today, Dec. 5, 2017 at 12:30. Since it was lunch time we had a short wait for our food but overall it really didn't take long. We have eaten here many times in the past and the food was always awesome! Not today, and sadly...we won't be back. We each ordered white fish, hush puppies, potato wedges and mac and cheese. First of all, everything was overcooked and the coating was so thick and crunchy that it overwhelmed the food. Basically, we had very thin strips of fish which when combined with the thick, hard coating was nasty. I guess it should have been called micro fish. The hush puppies had good flavor but were so overcooked that they were ruined. The mac and cheese looked and tasted to be at least 3 days old. Really....mac and cheese is reasonably inexpensive to make. Is it asking too much for it to be made daily? (Otherwise, I could have stayed home and eaten the mac and cheese that I made yesterday and it was much better than theirs.) The potato wedges were really good....well, the 4 that we could eat. The other 4 were paper thin and over cooked. In their defense, the restaurant looked clean and there were no nasty smells. Note to the owners: Please don't confuse golden brown with overcooked and crunchy! Two less customers to please. The next time we want fish we will go elsewhere!

We visited this restaurant the night before the Swim Run event at St James Lake State Park. They were happy to customize dinner for one of athletes. The food and service were both good. Lots of choices on the menu.

Craving fresh-never-frozen-burgers, premium sliced cheesesteaks piled high on steamed hoagies, and creamy frozen custard made in-house, right in front of you? You're in the right spot. Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries has brought a fresh, All-American diner
Dropped in for lunch on a whim for our first visit...and were not disappointed. The large burger size is very generous and the list of toppings is extensive. Fries were excellent and the tots were the best I've had, and both were plentiful enough for two people. The burgers were freshly prepared, loaded with toppings and more than enough to take care of a hungry diner. The milkshake we sampled was excellent, as well. Decor is retro and the dining area was spotless. Our server was friendly and prompt with refills. Kids get served in unique cardboard classic car trays. For a burger place, Hwy 55 gets a 5!

Stopped in for lunch - only a couple tables open. Good for folks and families of all ages. Good farm to table place that draws on local growers and merchants. Selection is varied, and good for meat lovers to vegans. Servings were more than ample. If you're through town, stop in; you'll be glad you did.

I met with some family at the Countryside BBQ for breakfast. The place always is full of cars when I go by and now I know why! The buffet was well stocked with traditional southern breakfast items, like bisquits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, etc. or you could order from the menu if you prefer. The people are friendly and accommodating and the prices were very reasonable.

Stopped here on the recommendation of several people in Marion. Very "homey" feel inside this downtown restaurant. Our hostess seated us and gave us a rundown of the specials and their food preparation philosophy. Practically everything is made in house and fresh. Service was friendly & prompt.Food came out lightning quick. I had the Chef Salad and my co-worker had a grilled sandwich. Both were excellent. Then the server announced that every lunch entree comes with a free dessert (cheesecake or fresh-baked cookies). There was a selection of about 10 different cheesecakes (again, all made in-house) and cookies. VERY good.Very reasonable for lunch. After tax, & before tip, it was just over $20 for two (with two soft drinks). When I'm in Marion again, I'll stop by.
