We visited on a Saturday evening. A band was playing on the outdoor stage and outdoor tables were all taken so we were forced to sit inside. With the doors open however, we could still see and hear the band. There is also an area for dancing in front of the stage. Our waitress was extremely busy and she had to come back once because she had not written our orders down right, but this just made her even more fun and delightful. We ordered pizza and burgers which were very good. The wine and sangria were also good. Their were a few rowdy guests among the mostly mellow crowd. When two women in our party were waiting in line for the restroom two other women barged in and tried to cut in line nearly causing a fist fight with ladies who had been patiently waiting their turn. Fortunately they didn't stay long. With little shade it wouldn't be the place to sit outdoors on a hot day. But after the sun goes down it's a pleasant venue for spending a Saturday evening.

I have family that lives close to this restaurant and go there often. The food and service have always been excellent. We have had family gatherings there several times and they have a large room off to the side that accommodates us. They also have a beautiful fireplace area.

Whether we were there for breakfast (their omelettes are delicious and enormous) or dinner (senior specials can't be beat), the staff greeted us (our first ever stay in Madison) as though we were lifelong residents. Even other customers initiated friendly (not-intrusive) conversations. When (Dee-Dee) our waitress at dinner realized she had forgotten to bring my wife her cup of soup, she promptly apologized, remedied the problem post-haste, and said "double-for-your-trouble" as she gave my wife a very full bowl of soup. Dee Dee didn't have to do that, but she chose to do so because that's the kind of "Mayberry-friendly" service that's offered at this truly family restaurant. To say that the food is good and the prices are budget-friendly is also very true. But those traits are more easily found today than the virtuous small-town hospitality that's found in abundance here.

We have eaten at Benny Vino's several times and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious! The wine is great, too. We are sweet wine fans and they have several to choose from. The outdoor seating area is naturally beautiful. Woods all around provide a peaceful setting away from the sounds of civilization.
This is an ice cream store/dine in/take out store--not fancy but clean with about 10 tables. You place your order at the counter and in 10 minutes you will receive steaming hot dogs with almost any topping imaginable. You can split the small fries between 2-3 people. The pizza and burgers also looked delicious. And did I mention--everything is reasonably priced!

Jeri was a friendly pourer. The atmosphere of the winery is inviting. It was relaxing to find some shade and listen to the performer while we drank a glass of wine. I recommend the reisling. The cheese plate had plenty of cheeses and unusual rainbow crisps. The server was especially nice. We loved the linen look paper napkins. We will return to this winery in the future.

Ohio Wine Producers
So far Ohio wine seems to be pretty thin on body and limited in complexity. Many I have tried tasted like water from a recently emptied wine bottle being Used as a carafe. Grand River added a whole new experience to my Ohio wine tasting- cheap chemical-like flavors. We had a double flight of dry and semi-sweet reds and whites. They were uninteresting except for the plastic undertone and a few hints of Jagermeister. Watered down Formula 44D came to mind. Never again. So glad I did not order food. This leaves me to wonder how this winery won all those medals on display.

Drove into town and the hotel recommended. We walked in and were sat immediately. The entire waitstaff stopped by throughout the evening to ensure we had water, our food was good, and if we needed anything at all. We split the buffalo chicken dip and Chicken Diablo. We also got a Seven Beer. All was amazing! Definitely would eat there again when passing through!
