Things to do in Lumberton
Just opened in Lumberton, TX. Long time restaurant in Woodville, TX, that closed and moved. Wife and I both had steaks. Steaks were absolutely delicious. Best steaks in the entire area. Cooked in wood fired grill to order. Table nearby had chicken fried chicken that looked like two chickens were sacrificed for the dish. Huge! Service was okay, but they are new and learning. Cannot say enough good about the food! Cannot say enough bad about the seating. You are packed in like sardines. Cannot walk through the restaurant without bumping into people at tables (or being bumped into). They should take out about 10% of the tables or so and then replace all of the remaining. Seats are completely metal and very uncomfortable. Table is completely metal and very uncomfortable to put legs under. And the overall restaurant is very, very warm. My wife, who is cold whenever and wherever she goes, even remarked how warm it was. Thin out the herd, fix the remaining herd, and use the A/C and it would have been a perfect visit.

We used to frequent Novrozsky's several times a month. Now, we only go about once every few months when I'm just craving my "usual". I can't quite put my finger on it, but something just isn't the same here anymore. It seems like the quality has gone downhill. I'm very disappointed because it used to be really good. The last couple of times I ordered sweet potato fries, they were cold and tasted like they were cooked in old grease. I won't even order them anymore.Several of the people who work there act like they don't really want to be there. Attitude says a lot when you work in the food industry and people can tell by your posture, facial expressions and attitude how much you care about your job. I was a waitress for a long time, so I know. I never minded that you had to order everything individually or that they are one of the more expensive places around here to eat...until now. Last night, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich (to go) and when I got home, there wasn't even a whole piece of chicken on the bun. I cut it in half and one side had almost all bread with no chicken. I normally don't complain unless a place is just really bad. I like to try to find things to be positive about. However, being as this used to be one of my most frequented places because of flavor, service and quality, I feel like it's worth noting that things have changed. I'm not sure what's going on, and I really hope it improves. I don't want to rate it as "poor", so I'm going with "average", but if things don't improve, I probably won't frequent this place anymore. :(
For years, this has been our "go to" restaurant for fried chicken. We always get the chicken tenders. They're perfectly done every time and not greasy at all. Their fried okra is one of my favorite sides, too. Can't beat their cream gravy - to eat with their biscuits AND their nuggets. When our son comes to visit, he always stops for a family pack to feed his three picky sons. We haven't found any better fried chicken than this in the entire area - actually in the state. Consistently good food for a reasonable price. Oh, their sweet, iced tea is excellent!

Just. NO! It's been somtime since I reviewed this place and I hate to say it but still...even as Lumberton Tx goes, this is a big NO! Fish is still imported vietmanese SWAI...shrimp were $13 for 7 salad sized shrimp, 3 one inch hushpuppies and a 3 inch baked potato that was overcooked to the point of being brown and gummy all the way through. I really wanted to give this place another chance especially since the Cabin in Lumberton is closed but a drive to Beaumont and a visit to Long John Silvers would provide a better meal and a decent drive out of town!

This pretty much sums it up: They smoke in this tiny restaurant. The food is, well, Waffle House food. Not the best, but not the worst. But we will never go back here nor bring friends after basically getting smoked out during breakfast!

Visited last week with sister and mother in law. The service was great. Quickly seated but in a freezing spot. We moved to another area that was better. We ordered margaritas that were average, nothing special. My sister ordered sliders that she loved and I had cheese enchiladas. The sauce was awesome. Only complaint was the salsa. Absolutely awful - like ketchup. Most Texans base Mexican restaurants on chips and salsa Crazy Jose's - ya need to step it up.

My husband, son and I stopped here on our way home from a trip to Beaumont. They had a pretty decent salad bar, which is nice. I ordered fried shrimp and catfish meal. Some of the catfish was over cooked, but the pieces that were cooked right were delicious. Loved the fried shrimp. My son loved the grilled shrimp, and my husband really enjoyed his fish. Staff was friendly and the service was pretty quick. The Catfish King in Livingston is better, but this was good!

We have been here many times. Always good food. Our table had: Salad with chopped beef, chopped beef sandwich, sliced beef sandwich, baby back ribs, and sirloin steak. All was good.

The food here is so good. I was with a large group and everyone ordered something different and were very pleased with their choice. Michael, our server, is excellent. He took the time to demonstrate how to eat crawfish for the out-of-towners. He was very attentive to our large group and was very personable. I would highly recommend Tia Juanita's.
