I read other reviews all the time and cannot understand people's dining tastes. I have been coming to the Commander for eons. Their lemon rice soup is the best and this is the main reason for lunch. We tried a croissant with ham salad which was not to bad. My other party had a croissant with corn beef and swiss which she said was good. I would give them a three except our fries were cooked in oil that fish was fried in. They tasted fishy. You need a map to get through their menu. Anyway, I hate to be a bearer of not a good review, but this place needs to revisit their meal preparations

TripAdvisor helped me find this place. Didn't want a chain restaurant, but wanted drinks and a larger menu.Bar atmosphere with techy jukebox. Fun. Friendly. Food was pretty satisfying. Drinks were decent. Lots of food with their specials. Good deal for your money. Clean and decent service. Off the beaten path.

I have been going here for 50 years, while it has change names a couple of times. Anyway, always great service from Gale and Suzie who have been serving for many many years. I usually have their outstanding wings and soup. Last nite we had a group of 5 and we could not have separate checks. I find this very irritating. I had a dinner and two people had their cobb salad. No rolls or bread were served. I am giving the establishment a 3 only because their mode of operation is going down the tubes. This is a bar with food service. The food is generally good and resonable. They need to go back to the home town service and stop thinking this is a downtown restaurant.

Went with family. Food was pretty good. The place was very clean/ spotless. Pros and cons but overall a good experience. Pros) Johnny Cakes were a nice addition and the wait/food staff was very friendly..... Cons) The Bartender needed to take a happy-pill, and the Peach Cobbler was straight out of a can....

The absolute go-to for quick, convenient, excellent food. The standards for sure: Italian beef, dogs, burgers. Unexpectedly great ribs, and the star...the gyros platter. Such great pitas and tsasziki (sp). The staff has been there forever and can practically read your mind. Closed on Sundays.

Routinely grabbed lunch here when I worked not far away - food has always been amazing and the price very affordable. Now that I travel for work, I stop in whenever my travels take me near Munster.Did I mention the food is amazing? Delicious sandwich creations, savory pies, and salads. The desserts and pies are outstanding too! Probably among my favorites is the artichoke savory pie, the spinach savory pie, and the cream of mushroom soup. (Yeah they have proper names, but you will know it when you see it). I have tried many other items from the menu of the day, and have never been disappointed. My only issue is deciding what to get with the lunch special and usually doubling down and getting two things: one item I have tried and a new one - never disappointed!Menu is always changing, but is posted on FB so you can plan ahead and skip the meal before so you have room ;)

These places are a dying breed, love them and the nostalgic feel. The interior is a bit institutionalized with funky chairs, crooked tables, wood panel everything and filled with hard working people. You just know you are going to waddle out full and happy.Had breakfast at 2pm (just love doing this), service was solid and the coffee was perfectly café style. Would eat here again and again if I didn't live 1,800 miles away.

We came for a cocktail after a recommendation from our hotel. The martini and the mule were excellent. They donât âwater downâ their drinks. They were refreshing on a warm day. The complimentary chips and pickles were quite tasty. We also had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. We asked for a side of horseradish which added âzingâ to the appetizer. Very nice place!

Fun - Loud atmosphere with good music. Exactly what you would expect for a micro brewery. Excellent selection of their own highly rated beers with plenty of guest beers to try as well. Food is delicious. Also have a carry out section where you can go in and purchase to take home. If you are around Munster and like beer this is not to be missed.

Schoops offers one of the most expensive burgers in this area and they simply do not rate as they did when I was a kid. You can get a fresher, better quality burger at any number of places and not have to remortgage your house to pay for the sides. As for the ambiance.....there isn't any. Someone should tear down all of these buildings along this strip on Ridge Road because they look like cr--p inside and out. The parking lots ehnd the need and overall also.
