Found this after leaving Barataria Preserve. There are a few counter seats and plenty of tables. The menu includes po-boy sandwiches, salads, pasta and entrees. I ordered the seafood gumbo for lunch. It was very flavorful, good portion. Also had the bread pudding which was served warm in a tall ice cream. Pleasant service, good find.

Voleo's Seafood Restaurant

After a successful charter fishing trip, our guide encouraged us to visit this gem of the Bayou where our catch was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our redfish cooked 3 different ways; blackened, almondine, and fried. Eloquent meals in a very relaxed and casual setting! Each preparation was delicious and that's not all. The salad we enjoyed before our meal was fresh and crispy, our baked potatoes and fries were done perfectly, and their onion rings are probably the best I've ever had. As a New Yorker who grew up in the restaurant business, I take food seriously and I'm not exaggerating with any of these compliments. The service did take some time, but that's because the cooks were paying attention to culinary details. The service from our pretty server was exemplary and people can learn a lot from her friendly and polite demeanor.

Bayou des Familles, a lazy waterway home to many alligators, turtles, egrets and other wildlife, takes center stage as our restaurant's design provides its diners with a natural picture show. It's in this setting where friends and family unite to experien

We drove the very short distance here after the swamp boat tour and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Our window seats looked over a sunny area of the swamp where we watched birds and something meandering through the flowering plants. The food was delicious and service was great. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

If you're terrified of gators beware. One big guy sitting 20 feet away from the tables but they did have a guard on duty making sure he stayed put. We were here for a conference night away and they had a great live band playing all the New Orleans music. Lots of choice for food and nothing too spicy. Great bread pudding. Wish they would have provided skitter protection though as we all got eaten alive until one of our own started passing out wipes. Its a fair drive from New Orleans so make sure you take advantage of the rest rooms before leaving. Unfortunately they needed some TLC.Thank you steveandjudy1994 for your review of Bayou Barn. It's good to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere. We are a private event venue so we provide groups with amenities, including the mosquito repellent and wipes which were located near the entrance. We also have citronella candles and torches but some people attract more mosquitos than others so we keep a healthy amount of repellant to ward off the "skitters". I'm sorry you found the 20 minute drive to be unpleasant. I hope we were able to make it up to you with some good food and music for the evening.
