Our favorite restaurants in Black Hawk are closed on Tuesdays, so we tried MTN Prime on the drive up. What a great find. The filets were truly prime beef and the grilled brussel sprouts were outstanding. Everything was expertly prepared, a good selection and the service was attentive without being smothering. The one caution is the steaks were slightly over cooked so you might want to inquire to see if they adjusted their cook times. Even with a minor imperfection a dining experience so good as to be worthy of 5 stars.

Right on the main drag so easy to find. We stopped for breakfast. The traditional variety was on the menu, but our waitress went above and beyond. I ordered oatmeal and asked for the usual raisins and brown sugar, but she mentioned that she could put fresh blueberries or another fruit on instead. She also brought cream instead of the usual blue milk with the oatmeal. There is nothing fancy about the place, but the townspeople seem to gather for coffee and that's a good sign. Waitress really understood service, and she appeared to be long-serving so you may be fortunate to get the same person.

A park ranger dropped us off here after coming off of Mt. Evans (that's another story!). We were in need of some warmth and food. We settled right into the bar and the incredibly friendly lady working there (I forgot her name) hooked us right up with some fresh coffee and home made carrot cake. Both were fantastic, especially the cake! We were trying to connect with a friend who turned back to Mt. Bierstadt, and they were kind enough to let us use their phone and then WiFi to get in touch. Unfortunately, the dining room was closed, or else we would have loved to eat there. Very beautiful setting and a really neat place (nearly 100 years old). Will definitely try to come back in May when it opens again!

I'm not a fan of crowds so Idaho Springs on a summer weekend is tough and crowded. But, Westbound and Down was a good place to escape from the crowded streets. Granted, the restaurant was also crowded and had a wait. The burgers were good. I had the fish and chips which were good too but I was disappointed in the size of the fish portion versus the fries. The service was actually decent for such a crowded place.

Stopped here for breakfast after a drive up Mt. Evans. Really happy we did. The breakfast menu has an amazing selection of things to enjoy. Of particular note are their Benedictâs which come in several creative combinations. The server team was very friendly and obviously enjoyed working there. Prices are very reasonable and portions large and food if highest quality.

I was shocked that this place isn't in Trip Advisor yet. It truly is a diamond in the rough!
We stopped in Idaho Springs for an early dinner after spending some time on Mount Evans. The high ratings Trip Advisor reviewers gave this restaurant were well deserved. We ordered at the front counter and were met by a very pleasant & helpful employee who guided us through the nightâs selections. My wife opted for the brisket sandwich and I got the brisket & pulled pork combo. The brisket was probably some of the best Iâve ever had, as it was tender & delicious. The barbecue sauces were great and the fries were nicely seasoned and crispy. The coleslaw was an added bonus, as it was delicious also. If youâre ever in the area of Idaho Springs Colorado youâve got to stop in at Smokin Yardâs BBQ and try the brisket. You wonât Be disappointed
