Things to do in Hempstead
We just happened to stop by Fraziers one day...Now anyone who passes by the intersection of Hwy 290 & Hwy 6 (Hempstead area), has seen the place! Concrete statues everywhere! Well don't just drive by and say "Ooh...how cool" anymore! Stop in...Not only is the outside full of different, unique and amazing yard concrete decor, the inside shop is something like you have never experienced! An amazing selection of a gift shop is inside...But then...half way thru the building is a small little cafe. They have by far the greatest "old fashioned" hamburgers and get this...Sweet Potato French Fries! Yummy! With flavored coffees, old fashioned ice cream shoppe, etc...Cute little bistro style tables to dine at while you listen to the wind chimes...Really enjoyed my self...In fact ended up staying there for 2 hours! You should go!

The bar is friendly, as are all the servers. It's a neighborhood friendly atmosphere , that actually serves great food along with cold beverages. Beer, tea, soda, all flow freely. Dine inside or outside. All are welcome at the Parrott. Bikers, farmers, teens, families, neighbors, & visitors.

While staying in Brenham for the Washington on the Brazos Texas Independence celebration, we decided to look for a non-chain breakfast place. I discovered a place called Breakfast Paradise in Hempstead, about 20 minutes from Brenham. I am glad we made the trip. It was a Sunday morning about 10am and parking was a bit limited, a testament to the popularity of this place. We had omelettes with hash browns and toast. About $7.80 each. The omelettes were large and very good! The place looks like it might have been the old ice cream/soda fountain place back in the day. Very polite and attentive servers. The young man preparing the meals was nonstop and did a wonderful job. Even with the crowd at the time, our wait time was minimal and there was no issues with the food. I would suggest you give this place a try if you're in the area and hungry for a filling breakfast. We didn't eat anything the rest of the day we were so full.

We are a family friendly, casual lunch spot! A separate dining room is available for groups or lunch meetings--just call ahead to reserve.
If you don't live near, it is worth the drive to get lunch here. Delicious homemade eats!! And they have frozen homemade casseroles to purchase and take home. The only downfall is they are only open at lunch time.Thank you so much for taking the time to review Classic Events Café. Vicki works very hard ensure our lunch selections are home made with her own special recipes. lt's so nice to know that our customers appreciate her efforts.

We decided to have a late lunch. There were no cars in the lot which is normally a bad sign. Never heard of this place but decided to take a chance. This place is a homerun! Catfish fillets are excellent, grilled scallops are better than that. Salad was cold and crisp and grilled vegetables are great. The service was very good and our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. Great prices and great place.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, It's just a plain looking, rustic building. Nothing fancy. When you go inside, you're facing a 7' tall stuffed bear with a goofy expression on it's face and several deer heads. This is surrounded by plain, wooden tables and chairs. You go to the counter to place your order where the owner, Dan Hill,is more than happy to engage in in friendly banter while taking tout order. Now, the food: The ribs are huge and fall off the bone tender with a great flavor. The brisker is so tender you don't need a fork. Th BBQ sauce on the table just adds to it. Their crunchy cole slaw has a sweet, creamy texture. After having tried many BBQ;s in Texas, including the famous ones, I'd rate this up near the top of the list and, possibly, right at the top, Oh, on the second Saturday of the month they have a local band playing country/gospel music. It's a real family evening.
