The Lighthouse Restaurant is, not surprisingly, located right near the water at the marina. There is some parking. We stopped in for lunch and noticed that a lot of patrons seemed to be residents along with us visitors. I always like it when we walk into a place and are immediately acknowledged, which happened here, and we were instructed to pick a table. The ambience is what I'd call homey and no-frills, which in no way is a negative for me. Everything was super-clean and screened windows were open (not being an Alaska resident, it was a bit chilly for me and we had to get one of the windows next to us closed, which was cheerfully done).I ordered the halibut fish and chips and hubby went for a combo halibut and salmon fish and chips. Both of us thought our fish was fried beautifully and was really tasty. Here's something we both noted -- the ketchup dispenser was a plastic squeeze bottle but it had an unusual spout that seemed to keep it very neat and clean. In fact, there wasn't a smudge on the whole bottle. This kind of thing is really important as it tells me that people who run the place are paying attention.Where they could have paid a bit more attention is in the ladies room (which you access by going into the adjacent bar) -- they were out of soap there.

The place doesn't exactly have a lot of charm, but a lot of interesting history. It is more than a century old and was a French restaurant initially and a brothel at some point. Unfortunately, the waitress wasn't in the mood to talk about the history and just referred to the respective page on the menu. Nevertheless, fascinating and a fun restaurant/bar to visit. As the place is famous for its haddock fish n chips, we went for it and sure were not disappointed. The fish tasted of high quality and the fish-to-batter ratio was excellent. Highly recommendable!

This place seems to be part the of regional history...The staff was friendly, the burger was decent, fries OK, the bun was cheap. We were initially lured to stop in by the promise of pies... but in the end, did not partake. There is an interesting collection of books, bones, fossils and antiques that is worth perusing, if you have the time. The washrooms were clean and comfortable.

I don't think I've ever been to Haines and didn't visit the Mountain Market. The sandwiches and wraps are always fantastic, there's great coffee, some groceries, a liquor store next door, and it's right in town. I usually make it my first stop as soon as I get to Haines from Whitehorse. Highly recommended!

We finally made it to the Pilotlight late in our vacation and were somewhat underwhelmed. We'd heard how great it was, etc. Our sourdough bread was burnt black, the service was mediocre. The fish tacos were good and the duck egg pasta and shrimp was pretty good, but not excellent. Just not as good as it was hyped up to be.

Totally relaxing place to get a delicious dinner. Great service and great atmosphere. We ordered these little stuffed dates in a balsamic glaze that were amazing, then moved on to hoover in a most delightful pizza with spicy salami. Everything was cooked perfectly and so very delicious. My favorite place to eat in Haines, hands down.
