The KFC has been here for at least 40 years, and the taco bell was added 10-15 years ago. I can't ever remember a time when the place looked clean inside or out. The staff have never been friendly, old or young. Every time I go in there, it seems there are new people that haven't been properly trained. I very rarely eat in-house anymore, because the place is that nasty in the lobby. The food is still good, and they usually get the order right, but the prices are high, especially for the chicken.

Once upon a time this was the only burger place in town. About the time McDonalds came in, Hardees started making everything "thick burger". The food is still pretty good, but I don't care for all that extra meat. The prices have also drastically increased. I haven't sat in the restaurant in a long time, but the last time I got food from there (half a year ago) I found the bill for two adults and two kids way higher than most burger joints. Some of the workers here have been here for literally decades. That does show dedication, and I respect that.

Went here for breakfast, suggested by a local. Great little gem, in an old gas station, with exposed brick, pictures on the wall of cartoon characters, other old gas station items. Breakfast was great and the service was fast and friendly. Others have commented about the local clientele, no problems, this is a great little local "joint" and I would definitely go back.

On a cross country trip, we stopped in Grinnell for lodging and dinner. Stuffed ourselves on the Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables and gravy. Ate some delicious garlic bread pizza as well as the dessert pizza. All for $9.99/person. Would have tried the large variety of pizzas but there was just no room in the belly. Great value! A shout out to the kids' basketball team who was fundraising for the evening and cleared our table every time we returned to the buffet.

you can cook your own, but for $3 more they will do it in the kitchen. If with a group cooking (available after 5pm) would be the way to go. They had a nice salad bar, with the potatoes IF you did the cooking yourself. Would deffinetly gothere again! Friendly staff

A popular local cafe with a broad menu. Staff was friendly and service was good. I had the Chicken Fried Steak which was with white gravy (as it should be) and mashed potatoes. The dish was well prepared and reasonably priced. While I donât make it out to Grinnell that often, but when I return, Iâll be stopping by Frontier Cafe again.

Not far from I80, but a world away from the tacky chain fast food places that you mostly find on I80, this is a really good place to get a meal.My Vodka Penne (see my photo) was flavorful and slightly spicy - I recommend it. But my apple-wedge salad was very plain, with too little dressing, nuts, cheese, apple. If thereâs a hipster community in Grinnell, this is where they might come to eat.
