Find out what American restaurants to try in Grand Marais. Grand Marais is a city in Cook County, Minnesota, United States. It is a northern village located on the shores of Lake Superior, and a vibrant, bustling town. The population was 1,351 at the 2010 census. It is also the county seat and sole municipality of Cook County. Prior to inhabitation by white settlers and prior to Minnesota’s statehood, Grand Marais was inhabited by the Anishinaable indigenous people, the thriving woodland people also known as the Ojibwe. The Ojibwe name for the area is Gichi-biitoobiig, which means "great duplicate water," "parallel body of water" or "double body of water" (like a bayou), a reference to the two bays which form the large harbor off Lake Superior.

Full service bar and restaurant, open year-round, Live Music 250 nights a year, rooftop bar overlooking the harbor, Eclectic/Ethnic Menu
GFT rarely goes wrong. Some favorites: Dungeness crab, walleye sandwich (hold the bread), ASIAN big bowl (truly a 10), Cuban, French onion soup and more.Avoid: Fishermanâs stew - glop with canned tomatoes, a few mussels, a piece of salmon on the side (really?) mussels in general at GFT not good from multi year assessment..This is a fun place with generally good food, just a few misses. An eclectic menu. Oh, they also have a microbrewery and aren't afraid to stay small.

Family friendly cafe where the locals go! It's "The Meeting Place In Grand Marais". We serve breakfast all day. Homemade Pies!!
We love the food, atmosphere, waitstaff, and prices. Our favoriteâs include the Wild Rice Cranberry Bread, Hot Beef Dinners and Sandwiches, Rubens, and the PIE!! The service is always good. Good mix of wait staff from different countries. Always clean. I would recommend Blue Water!

Family restaurant on the North Shore of Lake Superior, in Grand Marais, MN. Serving up homemade pizza, burgers, soup, salads and more. Great selection MN craft beer on tap.
Customer service is critical to a restaurant's success. We put our name on a wait list and waited outside with everyone else for our table. When not called, we went in to check. We were told we missed the call and would have to go back on the bottom of a 30 minute wait list. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said she is not here. I asked for who was in charge, they said no one. I asked for the owner or manager's contact information, I was told Paul, he lives in Wisconsin. I asked when would the manager be in again - Tuesday....If she had of said, "we're sorry. Its busy and that happens sometimes, would you like to sit at the bar instead, or even let me see what I can do......fine," but a couple walked in off the street and said "can we sit at the bar?" She said "sure." That was when I walked out. And it was what prompted this negative review. I do not recommend this restaurant. Whether the food is good or not, it is not worth LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE.

We are the Angry Trout Café, serving local fresh ingredients. We do not allow animals.
First, the food is delicious. The fish of the day and the chicken were thoroughly enjoyed by my family. And they have the most beautiful, colorful (and probably healthiest) salad I have ever had. Perfect for Instagram! They also give you a bottle of whatever dressing you want and you can apply as much or as little as you want. The vanilla ice cream with real maple syrup is a dream of a dessert! Also recommended: the maple soda. Second, they try emphasize local art/crafts and sustainability in everything. From the menus made of food boxes, to the handmade plates and mugs, to the locally made ( and really cool) furniture, it's an experience in supporting the community. Third, it's right on the harbor with beautiful views. Sold! No reservations, so come early or expect to wait. It's popular!

Quiet Elegance on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
$100 bucks later, we were full. We had two ribeye steak dinners with cauliflower mash and some random vegetable medley and bread. Overall, the steak was pretty good, although it was covered in some house special butter sauces. Whatâs not to like. Portion was average on the meats, a little more skimpy on the veggies. We will return soon. Give it a try. Service for us was pretty poor. Our waitress seemed to disappear to the kitchen for long periods of time. The other waitress on the floor was working her butt off. It wasnât busy when we were in. 4 tables. Neat place.

It was OK............the food was out of the ordinary, but expensive for what we were served. My husband and I were both looking for something more to eat after we left.It was a cute place, and I like to be full when I exit. Didn't happen here.

Went to Grand Marais on a foggy rainy afternoon along with everyone else in the area. It was a weekend but the weather probably made it busier than usual.Decided to try lunch here and found only a 15 minute wait which was pretty good considering. We both ordered the local fish sandwich and I have to say it was absolutely the best meal I had all weekend. There is a dill sauce or something they use that made it really special.Service was good for it being so crazy busy and everyone was friendly.Definitely will come back next time we're in the area.

Who would have thought that halfway down the remote Gunflint trail one would have found excellent food. We stopped here for lunch and were delighted with the service and food. Wonderful grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup and especially the taco salad with fresh salsa with quite some heat.

This really was a treat. All of the food was delicious and creative. The space is beautiful and the views from the deck are unbelievable. We were a group of four and we all loved our dishes. Collectively we had the haus burger, walleye po'boy, wild rice soup and a chicken and rice dish with figs. Delicious.
