End of 491 in Gallup and spotted Smokey's. Lots of parked bikes so encouraged. Cinco de Maya but early afternoon and restaurant not too busy. Waitress friendly but somewhat distracted. Took beer order, after 20 minutes hadn't received so asked again. Had been sitting on counter for pick-up. Asked about menu item ala carte rather than full meal. Server checked w/supervisor, reported OK, quoted price so I ordered. Meals good, BBQ brisket tender. When server brought bill said could not honor price had quoted me as another supervisor overruled. A little late to be telling me after I'd eaten rather than giving me the option up front. Very poor business practice, would have challenged supervisor but not worth the battle. Disappointing way to end a meal. Negative experiences not good for repeat business.

Tasty french toast (oddly shaped, very large, possibly made with pancake batter), eggs, ham, and hasbrowns! big breakfast and super yummy! Diner is small and a bit crowded but we got a table right away. Service was quick and friendly. It's a locals place as the waitress knew most of the customers' names. Check it out!

Always a great place to have lunch! Delicious sandwiches and salads and a nice atmosphere, hard to find in a place like Gallup!

I stopped here based on other review and had the Rio Rancho burger on a pretzel bun which was fantastic as were their fresh cut fries. If I want a burger the next time Iâm in town, I will definitely be back.

Classic diner. Could picture yourself eating here back in the 60âs while traveling the mother road. Food was great. We had hand pressed hamburgers and tater tots. Lots of good Mexican food served around us too. You know itâs good when all the locals eat here too!

Arrived too late for breakfast, so had lunch. Seated quickly in small restaurant inside of hotel, drink orders taken. Meal order taken quickly and we were provided with small dish of tortilla chips with salsa as appetizer.Meals arrived slower than we expected as they were not busy. Both of our orders were hot and as advertised, both tasty. Service was somewhat inconsistent during our meal...often wait staff passed by our table never refilling our drinks, other times we had two wait staff at our table both trying to refill our drinks or get us to order desserts. Not sure what was going on here. However, come check time wait staff had no difficulty getting check to us and waiting to get paid. Not sure if I was in this area again I would eat here, just too many other good choices in Gallup, NM.

Gallup, New Mexico location of the Cracker Barrel chain restaurant.
We have eaten at many Cracker Barrels because the food is usually consistent. We had breakfast at this location and the service was above and beyond what we might have asked for. Unfortunately we did not get the name of our waitress, but she was very helpful with our order. She actually suggested how we could order one breakfast which would give each of us the same food we would get if we ordered individually and saved us money! Would definitely recommend!

The fried chicken is a throwback to when I was a little kid at the annual church meeting held under the oak grove. Someone named Annie May or Grammaw Kate would bring their special fried chicken which everyone would crowd around and hope for a piece. Some years you wouldn't get any. Earl's chicken is luscious because - it's a tastier bird to begin with; it's cooked thoroughly with no rubbery meat surrounding the bone; the crust is peppery and salty and not too thick. Just completely delicious. Come with an appetite because you'll get a lot of food and it's a shame to walk away from great food, but it's a bigger shame to just stuff yourself because it's there. Maybe you can arrange to split your meal.

Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...n
I really wanted to like this place but in the end, I paid too much for a less-than-satisfying experience.Potato skins appetizer: goodGreen chili stew (starter): deliciousSteak: so undercooked, I had to send it back and even when it came back (slightly more cooked), by the time I finished it, my jaw LITERALLY ached from chewing through the tough meatVegetable rice (side): so salty I could not eat more than the first biteWhen you drop $40 for a meal in which the appetizer and starter are the highlights, well...Service was friendly but inconsistent. You wonât find another steakhouse in Gallup, to my knowledge, so just donât have steak in Gallup.

We got to Gallup early and someone had recommended Jerryâs. Itâs a diner type place. Full of locals which in my book is always good. Husband had breakfast burrito without chilli sauce as heâs not great with spice haha. I had one of the breakfasts. The waitresses were lovely. Kept filling my coffee up and it was good coffee. The place was so busy and ten mins after weâd arrived they had people waiting. I loved it.
