Home to the University of Florida, the largest and oldest university in the state, as well as the Santa Fe Community College, Gainesville is a hub of education and culture. Perhaps due to its strong student population, the city is also at the heart of independent music in Florida, having produced numerous musical acts from a variety of genres. The natural surroundings, including parks, lakes and the adjacent Paynes Prairie State Reserve provide a green getaway from the bustle of city life.

Went as a family and we all got different dishes. Stuffed fried shrimp, St. Augustine fried shrimp, gator tail, blackened grouper sandwich. The food was below average in our opinion. The grouper smelled extra fishy and didn’t taste very good. The St. Augustine shrimp was fine, but nothing special. The fries were pretty good. The appetizer bread was decent as well. The gator tail was just average. The best thing was the coleslaw. The clam chowder was not good either and had several meats that we couldn’t identify. The tea was another positive. The place didn’t have a good smell either. The reviews were pretty good for the place so we gave it a shot. But that was a mistake. I really wanted to like the place but left disappointed.

Our favorite when we want to confidently eat a healthy meal that is locally sourced. This time I had the daily special, which was a gulf red snapper, perfectly seared of an ample portion. It was served over a bed of lightly fried rice and Asian slaw. It was absolutely delicious. I accompanied that with one of their selection of craft beers. She had her go to favorite, the Thai green curry with shiitake mushrooms. It is also available with shrimp. It is a very flavorful dish served in appropriate quantity. We never leave hungry, and always plan our next visit to this area favorite. Do bring cash, no CCs allowed, but they do have an on premise ATM.

The BANG BANG SHRIMP® EGGS BENEDICT* was delicious and so was the potatoes au gratin. Plenty food, clean and family friendly. Price is reasonable. The only thing that was poor was the coffee, it was cold and didn’t taste fresh. Usually we get good service but today we got a server that was taking care of too many customers so we waited longer for coffee, cream, sugar and check. Other than that is a nice and quiet place.

Seating a lunchtime is always easy in their big dining area. Service is always attentive and quick. Food is consistently excellent. I had the beef brisket, which was smoky, moist and tender. My friend had the blackened catfish, which he enjoyed. Nice range of sides, salads, etc. At night it clearly has a focus on bourbon and other cocktails, but I haven't been there after dark. Dining area is dim on a sunny day, but fine for a business lunch or good-sized social gathering.

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to try this restaurant. I would agree that these are the biggest ribs that I have ever seen. My husband and I ordered the plates with 4 ribs, 2 sides, and garlic bread. Prices are very reasonable, and service is friendly and efficient. We had Mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, and seasoned fries —- all were delicious. The ribs had a nice rub, and various types of bbq sauce were available. My only complaint was that it was hard to get the meat off of the bones —-I prefer ribs where the meat falls right off.

The lobster mashed potatoes are not to be missed. The dessert was spot on also.Lovely atmosphere and impeccable service added to the excellent experience. You need to make reservations.
