This Subway stands out. Its very small in a small town and you get the small town service. Always friendly folks working and they take pride in making it just right. The subs are always fresh, and the breakfast is underrated. Flatbreads are a great alternative to biscuits and you can get in and out a lot quicker than the biscuit drive-thru down the road. The Keurig behind the counter offers options on coffee too, very nice. Always clean and well run. Complimentary Roanoke paper in the morning. Small things but good things.

Curb side service was a rare treat! Service was fast and efficient and the food came really fast and hot. A tip: Wonderful walnut milkshake, a real treat! Burgers were perfect as well, flavored and juicy, cooked to perfect medium. We were driving through and didn't feel like eating in a parking lot, so we drove off with our food towards Roanoke. A couple of minutes later we stopped by a church by the road. There was no one there, and behind the building were wonderful picnic tables next to a beautiful grassy hill, so we ended up eating there in the sunshine. A perfect lunch break on a long drive!

We stayed at the motel so we walked over to the motel. They had a nice selection for breakfast. We had copious and tasty servings and an enjoyable conversation with the owner.

We stopped in for an early morning breakfast and were not disappointed. I ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. My husband ordered the hash brown potatoes âyour wayâ. I had never had a fried biscuit with my gravy but it was delicious! And the plate of potatoes was huge - even both of us could not finish them - even though they were quite tasty. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly and made sure we were well attended. A great breakfast experience!

Stopped here today for the first time with a friend. Everything on the lunch menu sounded delicious so we had a hard time deciding on what to order. Since neither or us ever finish our meals and always have enough left over for one or two more meals, we decided to try three appetizers. We ordered the Crab Wontons, Loaded Fries and Fried Pickles. The Crab Wontons were delicately wrap, very tasteful and fried to perfection. Weâve both had Loaded Fries before but we both loved these and couldnât get enough. Normally I donât eat French fries but these were amazing. I never had Fries Pickles before because I donât like pickles but I found myself constantly reaching for these; they were thinly sliced and not at all soggy. For our entreeâs my friend ordered the Beef Medallions and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. These are things weâve ordered elsewhere and have made ourselves. Both dishes were amazing. Being true to myself I had to order dessert, so I ordered Chocolate Mousse, another dish I had made myself and ordered at many other restaurants. Those Chocolate Mousse was by far superior to any Iâve had in the past. Weâll definitely be back. If you are ever in the area put this restaurant on your âmust goâ list, you wonât be disappointed.

Pine Tavern has been around a long time. These days it serves country style food, godd meats and vegetables and salads family style or individually ordered. The fried chicken is great. I wasn't overly impressed with the chicken and dumplings other than the broth. By far the mashed potatoes were the best veg. Tasty little biscuits on the table for starters with butter and good jelly too. One ordered the catfish, huge serving size and he really bragged on it. Pintoes better than the green beans. For a drink, order the Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half sweet tea), best one I ever had. The peach cobbler wasn't sweet enough. We had spot on service. Very reasonable tab for the amount of food you get. I love the old pine paneling, beams, etc that have darkened with age. Very cozy.

We waited about 40 mins for our order and they finally came back and said they didn't have pepperoni. We had ordered a pepperoni pizza. Also we ordered a salad with mixed greens. About 20 minutes in, I saw the waitress look over at me at a distance, but heard her say, Oh, salad. She came back in a few minutes and gave us a spinach salad. We had them change the salad to what we ordered and we finally got it. Then much later they came back and said they didn't have pepperoni, so we said forget it and left and went to another pizza restaurant.

I just had dessert, they're all great. Love seeing the hand crafted instruments. Definitely go on Friday night for the Jamboree. If you can't get in for the music they'll let you look around a bit and there's a bunch of locals playing live bluegrass/Appalachian music to see outside as well.
