Find out what American restaurants to try in Edmonton. As North America’s northernmost large metropolis, Edmonton is a fascinating study in contrasts — a vibrant urban center in the heart of the wilderness. It’s a city that’s never been afraid to do things a little differently, as visitors discover through close encounters with free-roaming bison, a shopping mall that spans more than 48 city blocks, and a dynamic arts and culture scene that embraces more than 40 annual festivals, including the continent’s biggest and wildest Fringe Theatre Festival.

In the area for an early appointment, we opted to have breakfast here. Parking is available in a nearby lot and we were quickly seated on entering the restaurant. Plenty of breakfast choices at reasonable prices. The Classic Breakfast was cooked to order, with crisp bacon, double toasted toast and eggs just the way each of us liked them. The home style potatoes were delicious. We finished up by sharing one of their famous cinnamon buns with caramel sauce. All was delicious and service was efficient and friendly. We will be back.

Chop Steakhouse's South Edmonton restaurant features steak, seafood and drink specials; located near Gateway Blvd & Calgary Trail at the Sandman Hotel.
3 of us went to CHOP -Ellerslie Road- for dinner. Our first visit. As the name implies it is primarily a Steak House (beef primarily) although the do have pasta, fish and chicken as well for entrees. Decent array of appy's, and salads as well. It is/was Lobster week/month as well. One had maple haddock, one had tuna and I had a 7oz sirloin. You can order any of their beef entrees as is-i.e with potato only or upgrade it to have soup/salad and seasonal veggies with it as well as the potato. I did not upsize. Food was quite good, my steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. The 2 fish entree's were also reported as very good too. None of us had an appy or any starter, we weren't all the famished so can't comment on those. Service was good server friendly. Although the dining room wasn't overly busy (Wednesday night 6:30 ish) the bar seemed to be extremely busy. CHOP and the Keg are interchangeable in my opinion. Both have decent, somewhat overpriced food. However as there are no "independent" steak houses that I know of in Edmonton (Calgary has Cattle Baron) these places will have to do. Dinner for 3 (w/o booze, tip, coffee, desert) $100Hey Brian, just want to say thank you first of all for leaving this thorough review of your experience! We definitely have some menu options with varying price ranges throughout, and it seems you didn't get the chance to try our appetizers (I highly suggest the steak bites) As you mentioned our lounge has been getting quite busy with the new happy hour menu we revamped this summer! Seems to be a big hit in our lounges across the company. We will try and aim for that 5th star next time you come through! - Houston, Assistant Manager

I had a craving for 'fish and chips' so i thought - what better place to go than Smitty's and order the 'all you can eat 'fish and chips'.The meal was a little disappointing. My fish and chips (the chips were great, by the way) but the fish was only warm on the inside and it wasn't completelycooked. usually when fish is cooked, the meat is white. This fish (on the inside) was almost translucent in spots. So, I covered the fish in ketchup and at it anyway. I ordered a second batch hoping this order would be better than the first. It started off good - the fish fillets were very warm and so I thought the fish would be thoroughlycooked. I was wrong. In case you're wondering why I used ketchup - the vinegar I got seemed to be very watered down. It only gave off a hint of vinegar.I wasn't impressed with the meal.

I was very impressed by this place. Great service. Felt high-end and was in service, quality and selection. Had a nice half-price of wine offer on that night, I was told.Great music in the background though not too loud so you couldnât hear people. Beautiful interior with cool art, fancy bathrooms and comfortable tables/booths.It was a little too dim sometimes to the point where we couldnât read the menus but otherwise fine. Great service and the key lime pie was to die for. William Hill wine was great too.Steak was nice but expected the mushroom steak special to have a bit more flavor. Everybody was happy though. Great all around spot.Hi there M3512XMmichaels,Thank you for your awesome review! We are super pleased to hear that you had such a great experience with us during your recent visit. We currently offer all bottles of wine for half-price every Tuesday and Wednesday, all day long. You definitely picked a great day to come in!Thank you again, and we are hoping to see you back in the near future!

Good food served quickly. Husband and I shared an omelette that was barely held together with the eggs-it had so much stuff in it! I really liked that you can pick your own fillings from the list of about 15 items. Service was great; everyone was so friendly.

Meat has a very casual feel. They have large community tables and a lovely patio. It is always clean and comfortable. The staff have always been attentive, helpful and friendly. It is sometimes hard to know how much to order, they are great at making recommendations. The menu is designed for groups of people to order together and share. I think this is great as you get to try more things. Everything comes on a big platter and is set in the middle of the table. For the meat there are a few sauces on the table for dipping-my favourite is the cherry. All the meat I've tried has been good. I highly recommend the mac and cheese (its so creamy) and the garlic fries as sides. They have a good selection of local beers and cocktails. Can get really busy and there are no reservations, so I recommend being prepared to wait or going at non-peak times.

A unique dining experience serving Cajun and Creole cuisine. The sweet potato fries come highly recommended.
The service here is fantastic. The food is delicious. I have never tried creole food before but for my first taste, this was amazing. So many complex flavours. The veggie combo was incredibly tasty and the tuna poâboy was most excellent! Highly recommend.

First visit to Atlas on a Thursday night as we had heard about their amazing seafood deal. Was promptly and courteously seated by hostess without reservations at a great booth. Our server, Gustavo, was highly competent and attentive throughout the evening. We had several appetizers, wine, beer, seafood, accompaniments and beautiful baked Alaska at the table. Sous Chef came to our table to chat as did the Restaurant Manager. The whole experience was beyond our expectations and we recommend to anyone who wants first class food and service. World class dining in an unlikely place. We are planning to make this a monthly night out so we can try all of the wonderful menu items. Looking forward to being just as impressed on visit #2 when we come back to try the steaks. Spectacular showing by all staff and management. Thanks for a memorable night. Dear charles a,We thank you for the amazing review. Atlas aims at providing fine dining service with elegance and I am glad to hear that it was perceived well. Gustavo is indeed an amazing host. Hathaway's Diner is Temporarily closed for our Summer vacation July 5 - July 20. We hope to see you again on Tuesday July 21!
Stopped in for lunch - split a reuben and a piece of lemon meringue pie. Both delicious, nice portion and we knew they were made with care. Clean place. Fair pricing. Lots of locals. We felt like a local, even a friend of the family once we finished our meal. Definitely will be back.
