Where to eat American food in Craigavon: The Best Restaurants and Bars

November 17, 2019 Trinity Boughner

Find out what American restaurants to try in Craigavon. Craigavon (/kreɪˈɡævən/ kray-GAV-ən; Irish: Creag Abhann) is a planned settlement in northern County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Its construction began in 1965 and it was named after Northern Ireland's first Prime Minister: James Craig, 1st Viscount Craigavon. It was intended to be the heart of a new linear city incorporating Lurgan and Portadown, but this plan was abandoned and less than half of the proposed work was done. Among locals today, "Craigavon" refers to the area between the two towns. It is built beside two artificial lakes and is made up of a large residential area (Brownlow), a second smaller one (Mandeville), plus a central area (Highfield) that includes a substantial shopping centre, a courthouse and the district council headquarters. The lakes, a wildlife haven, are surrounded by woodland with walking trails. There is also a watersports centre, petting zoo, golf course and ski slope in the area. In most of Craigavon, motor vehicles are completely separated from pedestrians, and roundabouts are used extensively.

Ate there today with a friend. Had eaten there once before (last year) and had enjoyed it then so I decided to order something different this time.Ordered the Big Bang Burger, and had it with garlic and chilli curly fries. My friend had the same (but without jalapeños). Whilst the burger meat was lovely, the chicken and bacon were totally ruined by a nasty sauce - on the menu it said bbq sauce but this was like no bbq sauce I’ve ever tasted. It was extremely salty too. Even the curly fries were very salty. My friend agreed. Totally overpowered the food. Ate it as we were both very hungry but we didn’t tell our waiter what we thought of it. Won’t be back there ever again based on the food this time, and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

Dropped in to try out the Burgers, a tad expensive for a Burger I think, but having said that the quality and quantity of toppings was excellent, as was the side order of fries, however, I dont like skin on fries, prefer proper fries, but they were noce, bottomless drinks was good, as was the quality condiments, HP sauce, Heinz Ketchup, Colmans mustard etc.

Got a pizza out if here and it's what you'd expect for an average pizza/kebab shop. It's a good enough looking spot and clean and you'd hope but don't expect a 5star pizza

Stopped here after a day of sightseeing and really wish we would have just kept going. It was terrible. We ordered a small pizza with pepperoni and and order of onion rings. The onion rings were okay (although they were greasy as all get-out), but the pizza was flippin' revolting. First of all the sauce was just plain bad, and the 'slices' of pepperoni were literally the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil...and it tasted like it, too.We each took two bites of pizza and then threw it in the back seat. The next morning we chucked it in the bin. They weren't very friendly, either. I don't expect people to be all gushy, but a smile goes a long way. These folks acted like they would have rather been at a wake.
