A group of us wanted pizza for dinner one night, and cottage inn is open late, which is great. When we called to place our order, we realized we needed to order something else to reach the minimum delivery price, so as I was asking my friends what else they wanted, the guy on the phone said "bye" and hung up the phone. We ended up getting Papa John's instead, which was great.

Arrived around 7pm to a crowded house. Rather than wait for a table in the dining room, we opted for immediate seating in the bar. While it was noisy, our server Marisol made our dinner a very pleasant experience. Our dinners included a shaved beef sandwich, The Black Jack. My wife enjoyed it. Not too spicy but flavorful. On Marisol’s recommendation, I tried the Lake Perch basket. Other than more fried food than I usually eat, the fish were excellent. We would definitely order these items again and we look forward to a return visit.

New Beginnings

After arriving at Grand Rapids airport, we were looking for breakfast while heading west out of town and spotted a highway sign for New Beginnings. The restaurant is 30 seconds off I-96 at the north roundabout, in a little strip mall. You seat yourself, and menus are available at each table. Our server arrived pronto to take our drink orders and answer questions. There is no non-pork breakfast meat, except corned beef, which comes from a can, so we opted for meatless meals. We both ordered Greek omelets with tomato, spinach and cheese @ $8.75. I opted for cheddar instead of feta. We requested real butter for our toast, because it's not standard fare. You can add hash browns for $2.10.My daughter is on a special diet and has to bring her own bread when traveling. The kitchen had no problem with our request that they toast her bread, in lieu of serving their own. Our jaws dropped to the table when the food arrived. They must have used half a dozen eggs in each omelet. They were absolutely enormous, and we could only eat about half. I'd have never ordered hash browns if I'd known. The food was delicious - omelets cooked to perfection, toast done well, and the hash browns were crispy and tasty. The coffee was good too @ $1.95, and they serve real Half & Half. Ambiance is nothing fancy - diner style eatery. There's no organic or non-GMO fare, and don't expect raw sugar for your coffee. But service was excellent, prices were very reasonable, and the food was very good. I'd dine here again.

Champs

After wandering all afternoon in the hot sun at the Del Shannon Car Show, we noticed this neighborhood bar/restaurant right on Main Street and decided to give it a try. Wow, are we happy we did. The place was very busy and full of people having fun, but we kept on walking and found a booth toward the back. We noticed an area of outdoor seating, too, but opted for air conditioning. We were promptly waited on by a very pleasant lady. Looking over the menu, we found the prices very reasonable and ordered an appetizer of soft pretzels with a cheese dipping sauce. YUM. Perfectly warm and soft pretzels with a delicious sauce. We each ordered their specialty, the Champs Burger and were rewarded with the best burgers we have ever had - served on wonderful bakery buns.Highly recommended and can't wait to return.
