Ok, first, full disclosure: I've been going here a for more than a few years, so I can tell you how this place works-- the RESTAURANT is actually NOT part of the overall business. There has been NEW MANAGEMENT since the spring... and WOW... the food has become... INCREDIBLY GOOD! If you went here previous to summer '18, go back **and re-try.** They have two new chefs (Chance and Dan) who are top-of-the line... Both are well trained in culinary, well respected, and well-known locally having been top chefs in the area. They found a venue and started their own business!(FYI-- the restaurant is a different business from the bar or the locale itself....So if you didn't care for the bar or the seating outside, or the road.... You're not talking about the actual restaurant, and you're critiquing things the restaurant has no control over.... See? Told you I've been going here for a while!) First.. TRY THE SMOKED SALMON. Er magawd. You will fall in love! (I'm a vegetarian, but I do eat seafood!) The tofu as awesome as well!!! The quinoa salad side is perfect, but I also choose the side salad. El Esposo (a carnivore!) usually gets the brisket, but he eats offf the whole menu and loves it EVERY TIME.I literally have NEVER been dissappointed since the new change over to Chance and Dan. You can even catch them outside during a concert night and ASK them how they do the meats! They are so cool about sharing their "secrets" to smoking!!!I've been going here for years, but this is the BEST restaurant they've ever had! The concert fair outside is good, but the sit-down restaurant is where you really want to go. It's a different menu, and that's where the salmon is!!!Go there. Seriously, you will thank me!

The portions are huge. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the earlier days...quaint and simple. The food was good. The issue was that our order did not come the way we asked for it. No chicken on the "chicken" salad and no fries that were ordered as a side. Our waitress warned us ahead of time that she was forgetful...well she was. I appreciate her honesty but she should be writing more down if she knows she will forget. They were polite and attentive and all is good...just not 5 star good.
I had bad service here repeatedly, but kept eating there because Chittenango isn't chock full of eateries. However, I experienced some of the worst service imaginable ...after treating my like an inconvenience, screwing up my total and making me wait around for my order...when I finally was leaving they even accused me of stealing my pizza! It is kind of a long story, but I was so mad I posted my story here:http://chittenangopizzanightmare.weebly.com/----Long story short...They will never see another red cent from this guy.
Have been there 4 times, 3 breakfasts, 1 dinner. Always excellent service. Pleasant, experienced waitstaff and prompt service. Really good food and reasonable prices. Can only believe that they are not busier because they are fairly recently reopened under new owners and have not been well advertised. Good breakfast menu with many choices. Hash is good! Small dinner selection but something for all tastes. Had the dinner special, meatloaf, on a very cold night. Was really good with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and bread. Large portions, took some home. A little dark in the evening but clean. They are having live music some Saturday nights. Well worth stopping by. Plenty of easy parking and when the weather warms, there is deck seating on the back of the building. Looks out over the valley - hence the name I guess.
