The Borough of Chaguanas is the largest borough (83,516 at the 2011 census) and fastest-growing town in Trinidad and Tobago. Located in west-central Trinidad, south of Port of Spain, north of Couva and San Fernando, named after the indigenous tribe who originally settled there, it grew in size due to its proximity to the Woodford Lodge sugar refinery. It remained a minor town until the 1980s when it began to grow rapidly as it drew people for its bargain shopping and moderately-priced housing. However, its rapid growth has seen property values increase dramatically.

We have visited 4 times since introduction of their new menu and Iâm not happy to report that the consistency and standards have dropped somewhat. Iâm confused as to why they would remove popular items to make room for unenticing things. Some changes mystify me like removal of crab cakes from their menu! We used to love their crab cakes and would go there just to have them. But it is certainly not because they no longer stock crab meat, as they still offer crab wantons! How bizarre! We also loved their fried onion bloom with various dipping sauces and that has gone too. Such a simple and quick-preparation item, and poofâ¦disappeared from the menu! Also, there are long-preparation items on the menu now like the two sushi rolls, but it is often not available as perhaps only certain chefs on duty can prep those special items. And when they do have it, youâve got to really love it bad to wait for it as it takes at least 45 minutes to prepare! Iâm confused as to why they would remove simple-prep offerings and add items that require more time and effort to prepare? It just doesnât make any sense to me. I still love the staff and would love to continue giving them my support but as my husband would sayâ¦.âwhy change something that doesnât need changing?â There used to be a nice football vibe in Trotters on a Saturday and on this occasion, we walked in with no game on the main screen (yes, believe it or not!) and whilst they were willing to put on what we wanted to see in our dining area, there was zero volume. Gone is the upbeat music too so the place just seems dead and of now lacks the vibrant atmosphere. I would honestly say that Iâm a fan of the old Trotters. Bring back the old Trotters please!
The Rise holds it own in a neighborhood crowded with more prestigious or better equipped / furnished competitors. It achieves this by providing the atmosphere and ambiance well appreciated by its custobers. The food is not five-star but it is still tasty and you get fair portions...

Traveling back from a meeting and sitting in Trini traffic. As I was not familiar with the area, I pulled into the mall parking lot and headed to that old American standby TGI Fridays. I do not eat at Fridays normally as they epitomize why I don't like that type of chain. It was empty. I felt mostly ignored. When I asked for extra napkins for my Black and Bleau taco's (messy) I was given 3 bar napkins. I guess the 10% service fee takes away from the servers incentive. The food was good.
Went there with my boyfriend for a valentines dinner and it was wonderful. We made reservations because we know it is usually a busy night so we were seated very quickly. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The drinks were great. I love sangrias and the waitress recommended a Carib sangria which was very good. I had a pork slider as the appetizer which was also very good. For the main course I had the pasta rustica and my boyfriend had the Z's Seafood Ravioli which were both delicious. Overall the service, atmosphere and the food was delightful.
