I'm not a vegetarian, but I just got the Nomad Bowl. It was excellent. It had rice, black beans, plantain, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted corn, roasted spinach, salsa, a vegan aioli, tofu...it was pretty delicious! I got a small, but shared it with my husband. It was enough for both of us. They even had bottled water from Italy.

Troyâs is located near downtown Boone, NC, and near the Appalachian State University. Menu includes many appealing choices. Two of us got the meatloaf plate which was very good. Another got the Reuben sandwich which he said was good. Seating was quick, service was good, wait time for the food was short. Definitely a good place to get good food!

Proper is a Southern bistro-style restaurant located in downtown Boone NC. We offer carefully prepared fresh food in a comfortable and relaxed setting. Most everything we serve is made from scratch, in-house, and what we do not make ourselves is all natur
I cannot complain about the food but it is difficult to eat looking through filthy windows and spider webs in every corner..makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is...I peaked in..not very clean..the food is always good, the desserts are too priceynot a good wine list

Lots to choose from on the menu. Large portions and good food. Place your order, then find a table and wait to be served. Plenty of seating indoors or outdoors. Casual atmosphere. Beautiful park right out back. Right at the base of Chimney Rock Park.

I saw this amazing lady, Renee Boughman on U.N.C. TV. Our public broadcasting station here in NC. Talking about her F.A.R.M. cafe. Her concept of everyone can eat regardless of financial status & pay it forward is just lovely. You can volunteer at the cafe to eat if you don't have money. She is an amazing spirit & does business with local farms. I was determined to meet her while I was on vacation in the mountains around Boone, NC & check out the food as well. Let me tell you, she did not disappoint! The food was so fresh & so delicious, I wish I could eat there often, but we live 4 hours away at Ft. BRAGG, NC. If you are ever in Boone, NC. Please check out the F.A.R.M. Cafe! You won't regret it. The people that work there are very warm & inviting also.

The restaurant is lovely ... simply decorated, soft and appealing lighting, spacious and comfortable booths. My sister ordered the sautéed mushroom salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and the ahi tuna appetizer with crostini, which she raved about. My brother-in-law and I ordered the duck. The waitress was very accommodating when he requested a substitution for the vegetables. She suggested medium rare for the duck, to which both he and I agreed. At his first cut, he called the waitress over to tell her it was raw. Before she took his plate, I showed her that mine was raw as well. She offered to bring mine back to the kitchen as well but I told her that I was afraid it would be over cooked. Given the choice between raw and over cooked , I choose raw. So I ate it thus without another word or concession.

Upscale casual dining specializing in creative American cuisine focusing on local/regional cuisine and products. Extensive wine and specialty beer lists including mixed beverages.
While in town for the weekend (crazy, App State student move-in weekend), we decided to stop in here for brunch on a late Sunday morning, and we're so glad we did. The place wasn't super packed when we arrived, but it filled up quickly. The brunch menu is amazing, and deciding what to have was hard. Two of us had the Cap'n Crunch Pancakes, one had the Breakfast plate, and I had the Chicken Stack. The portions were massive, and everything was delicious! Super flavorful and fresh. We'll absolutely come back!

The bar area was great fun! Bartenders extremely attentive and even gave us a sample of a drink weâd never had. Made reservations for 7 but was 7:20 before we were seated after I reminded hostess and bartender even checked for us. Unfortunately I wonder if it was because we were women and only 2 of us while several families and couples came after us and were seated first. Hope not! Food was good but with all the reviews over the years I was surprised that it wasnât more of a blown away type experience. And it was SO loud inside it was hard to carry on a conversation at the table we were placed. The next best part was the valet parking! Those young men were top notch!

I like fun and different sandwiches and my family likes basic. This place has both. Shaved ham and Brie with apples for me and basic turkey for them. Wait wasn't too long even on a busy day. Friendly staff. Potato salad was only ok. Recommend this place!

Red Onion is a local restaurant that has been serving the High Country across from Appalachian State for over 30 years. Our menu ranges from lunch time favorites to local delicacies and exquisite entrees. With a wonderful waitstaff customer satisfaction i
Our server, Brie was excellent and super knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the coffee rubbed filet and it was delicious. Our college student daughter had the champagne chicken florentine and she ate every bite. And I had the low country salmon which had a good flavor except that it was overly salty. We would definitely go back only I would change my order. I love that this is a local restaurant that has been here for 34 years(I think).
