Where to eat American food in Bisbee: The Best Restaurants and Bars

November 21, 2019 Velvet Mowry

Find out what American restaurants to try in Bisbee. Bisbee has declined in size and vigor from its glory days as a thriving silver and copper mining town, but the decrease in population has not robbed the vitality from this historic center. A haven to artists, retirees and history buffs, Bisbee astounds visitors with vibrantly colored rock faces and picturesque houses hugging the edges of cliffs. Its history can be discovered in its numerous museums, historic staircases and a mine tour that leads deep into one of the remaining caverns.

We ate here one night in mid-January when staying at the OK Street Jailhouse in Old Bisbee. We could walk from place to place, so that was convenient. At 6:30pm on a Friday night, we were almost the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered a small veggie pizza, and it was very good! One beer, one mai-tai(the server had to look up how to make this, but she did a great job!) and tip put the bill at $25.We were a bit confused at first because we didn’t know you had to order at the bar. Maybe a sign indicating this would be helpful?? The old building and its history are interesting.

Popped in with a group on a weekend evening. I had to explain to the bartender how to make a standard drink. To add insult to injury, the barkeep didn't have the correct ingredients to make the cocktail. The place was a morgue that night with little to no business which might be a reflection of the service. I would suggest that Friday through Sunday, management invests in providing entertainment and all the ingredients for coffee libations (Irish Coffee, Mexican Coffee, Keoke Coffee, etc.). Many retirees come to Bisbee for a long weekend Thursday-Monday to just get away and enjoy.

They say on the walls place orders at the bar. You could have a birthday doing that. Service isn’t slow. It’s non existent. And it’s too bad. The food is pretty good. Just don’t sit at an “invisible” table. That’s where no one pays attention to you.Don’t know another place in Bisbee, but this is a place best left for the very very patient !!!

So thrilled to finally be in Bisbee when Poco is open for business. Since we didn't think we would be back again soon, we ordered a lot of food!! All was perfect. Service was slow, but worth the wait.f First we split the nachos - a big plate which included some quinoa and some faux meat. Then, I had the brussel sprout chimi on the recommendation of the customer ahead of me in line. HUGE and delicious. I would have liked more of the roasted brussels but really, no complaints. DH got the tofu/roasted veggies bowl. He said it has a nice, smokey grilled taste to it. A bit larger plate would have kept the large serving from falling onto the table. We also had the french fries with spicy ketchup. Wish we could have ordered more! And all vegan, to boot - heaven!

That’s what a customer said when I asked about the breakfast special - blue corn biscuits with chorizo and soft boiled eggs. And, it was in the top breakfasts I have eaten. We also had the quiche; scrumptious on its own. Couple this with superior service and bottomless cups of coffee and why would you ever go anywhere else? AND dog friendly for patio seating! Need I state more?

They do a great business. Service was very good. Old, but clean. Restrooms were clean and maintained. In keeping with the High funk calling of greater Bisbee, the streets around the restaurant are loaded with old cars, busses and motorcycles. Service was prompt. Eggs, bacon and gravy were very good. The biscuits were huge, but not cooked through. It is great place for breakfast if you are not solo.

We've lived in Cochise County since mid-March, and just had our FIRST great meal! We were promptly seated, were greeted by our server and started with a couple of excellent Margaritas while we made our dinner selections. Started with Baked Flatbread with Salmon, delicious, our entrees were the Spicy Italian Sausage in Penne and the other was the Sea Bass special of the day. Both entrees were very good! The dining experience was made excellent by our server.
