Unfortunately you will be disappointed in the culinary attempts at this restaurant. Have dined here twice and they just don't have what it takes to pull it off. Ambiance is pleasant as are the staff but the food is prepared with a heavy touch that diminishes the taste rather than enhancing it.

Hungry? We Do Hungry, & We Do It Well!
Sundays, the restaurant gets busy, especially before 1 p.m. The turkey noodle soup has an incredibly rich broth, and it's loaded with turkey. The wife and I eat here most Sundays. If you like scallops, this restaurant has the best: REALLY tender without the hard bits often found elsewhere. The senior menu, which is a real bargain, includes the salad bar, which, along with the Heidelberg Restaurant near Womelsdorf, is the best in Berks. The senior menu, which averages $9 to $12, includes the salad bar, soup, and a good choice of desserts.

I recently visited Black Jax for a social outing with some friends. In short, the food was terrible, the service sucked, the clientele was less than desirable and there was a bad odor inside that just made the whole experience a bad one. Not a place I'll ever visit again.

Had breakfast here - service was good and the food was great. They have a wide variety of standard diner items and a few unique selections such as the jack attack burger with pulled pork, soups and desserts. Prices are reasonable too. Portions are large. Basic diner atmosphere.

Fine food and service in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Eclectic menu. Full Bar including international wines and microbrew beers on tap.
Excellent execution and delivery. Hannah was incredibly professional as a waitress. Frank's skill at customer service is polished and indicates decades of experience. The flavor profiles build off of time tested basic techniques into complex symphonies of culinary excellence. The bar managers pairing abilities went beyond a knowledge of wine showcasing an atypical ability to pair wine to both the style of the diner and the course ordered. Quite frankly this is a Manhattan level of excellence hidden away in Berks county. Highly recommended!

Stopped in for lunch and a beer after hiking. The food was excellent. The beer selection was good and the bartender was very friendly. Very enjoyable. The atmosphere is very nice but small.

This place offers a lot in regards to food, bar, outside seating, entertainment venue and local hang out bar. The owner is great but the service is hit or miss. Food is good bar menu and daily specials with half price burger night excellent.

Returning after a not stellar meal over a year ago, we found they have not improved. We decided to give the surf and turf another try. This time the lobster was slightly underdone vs tough last time. The filets were done to our specifications. The house salad dressing was watery and the bread tough.

Our favorite is the cheese steak pizza...you would swear it was a Philly steak on your pizza! You gotta try the eggplant fries with marinara sauce as a side.

We ordered the hot wings, we prefer the smaller wings they were tasty. I also ordered the baked tomato and mushroom soup, would definitely order the wings and the soup again. For dinner my husband ordered the french dip and he thought is sandwich was ok and said he would order the sandwich again. The parking is limited and the restaurant can get very busy especially on a Friday evening so call ahead and try to make a reservation to ensure you can be seated and dine when you would like to.
