Most of the crowd here were obviously locals. Hey they know a good place in their own neighborhood. Sandwiches are amply filled and reasonable priced. Nothing fancy here but good food.

The chopped pork was ok- not as much flavor as I would have liked. The hushpuppies were tasty. The traditional North Carolina red bbq slaw was too sweet for me and would have benefitted from a bit more vinegar. Others in our group loved their meals having ordered a variety plate. The portion sizes are tremendous!

We went for breakfast, but they serve lunch and dinner as well. Our food was delicious. Our waitress was nice and got our order correct. If In the area, I would definitely go back and would love to check out their lunch and dinner options.

Meryle is an outstanding host. The food prepared by her husband Dominic exceeded our expectations for a restaurant in the mountains! The food is so fresh, homemade, different. We had homemade chicken soup with 4 different samdwiches which come on their homemade bread/rolls. Just delicious! We had 4 different desserts one better than the next. Not too sweet, just right. We even took home a chicken pot pie to bake. I wish they were in Greensboro! Well done! A must go visit!

This has been a favorite! Last week their Special (well priced) was Walu which is basically White Tuna. It was amazing! So are the Tuna Nachos! Incredible. The servers are excellent and Wednesday Night is Fried Chicken, the best we've ever eaten! Complete with sides and Dessert!

We celebrated my husbands birthday here last Friday and it was excellent. When we arrived for our dinner reservation we were informed our table wasnât ready yet and we were ushered up the stairs to a very cosy bar where we had a drink. A little later our table was ready and boy was it worth the wait! We ordered all different starters and they were all excellent. Oysters, raw and fried just delicious. For our mains we ordered jambalaya, salads, fish and again every dish was delicious. The atmosphere was very calm and nice and the staff brought a nice local berry cake with a candle for my husband for dessert. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

The High Country's Premier Steak and Seafood Restaurant for over 30 years. Featuring an award wining wine list, regional beers and craft cocktails. Indoor and covered outdoor seating available. Private room available for events.
I'll have to say that we enjoyed our dining here a lot. The atmosphere is nice and despite what we had read, the vast majority of people were dressed quite casually. It didn't feel like an upscale, up Market restaurant that we were out of class in. Our server, Heather, really made the meal exceptional. She was friendly, very professional, made recommendations when asked and make sure that the meal flowed perfectly. Each course from the James River oysters to the roasted beetroot and feta salad, to the prime rib was presented well, had great blendings of flavors, and the right proportion. We ended the meal with a sweet potato pie - a nightly special that was a creation of the chef. Really liked it as it was not overly sweet and not overly heavy, but the perfect ending to the meal.Thank you for your recent visit and your kind words. We look forward to serving you again in the near future.

This was our best dinning experience in a while and definitely the best restaurant in the greater Banner Elk area. We started with salted beats and fresh greens salad appetizers. Plating was artistic and both dishes delivered explosion of flavors. We ended up ordered salmon and duck for entrees. Duck was unusually flavorful and crispy. Salmon had nice crisp on outside, yet was amazingly flaky and buttery. Food portions were moderate, enough to enjoy the food without belly aching. My wife had a nice glass of Pinot noir. The service was extremely professional, yet very friendly. Valet parking was a nice touch. This place is must experience for every âfoodyâ. We will be back.
